Worn tires at 14K

I have a 2017 Acadia Denali with just under 14,000 miles. I have one tire at 3/32 and the others at 4/32. They are the Michelin with a 60K warranty. Anyone else have tires almost worn out with so few miles? Anybody try to get a pro-rated discount from Michelin. Tires have been rotated 3 times since purchased. Thoughts...?

I'd be pissed if that happened to me, but I'd certainly expect the prorated price on new ones. Unless they have horribly uneven wear, don't see why they would fight it. Let us know how it works out.

BTW, I'd just go to Discount Tire and they'd figure it out.

Yes, worn evenly. I do realize there is some life left on them, but coming into the winter season and don't want to take a risk. They have been rotated 3 times already. My guess is they will be at the wear bars by 20K. Pretty poor for a 60K tire.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, why would you rotate the tires 3 times in 14K miles? Doesn't the OM say between 7,500 - 10K? At 7,500 miles that would be only 2?

You can try a local Michelin distributor and learn what they have to say. Contact Michelin (US) Customer Service if you feel you're not getting a fair shake from the distributor. They should guide you through their warranty process. Information is on their website.

Did the dealer get involved when you first noticed this wear? Something like that should have been noticeable early in the life of the car. Warranty would have handled any alignment issues within the first few thousand miles (it used to be 3,000). Beyond the initial period, any issue with the car's alignment is usually attributed to road conditions, or driver habit, and not covered by the warranty program.

Tire rotations every 4500 miles or so.....
tires are evenly worn.
No odd wear on sides etc...

It sounds to me like Driver input....... aggressive acceleration

Can you post pictures of the tread, both straight-on, and profile view?

If you're almost done with the tires @14k with 70% being highway miles, something is very wrong. Tires could be seriously defective, like that batch of compound was made incorrectly.

Or alignment. Were both of your alignment checks at the same dealership? Personally I'd take it to a local shop that specializes in alignments where you know the equipment has been calibrated recently.

Servicing GMC dealer does rotations at 5K...just had my last service done so 3 oil changes 3 tire rotation....and I am not an aggressive driver at all..work from home for the most part...70% of the miles are from long vacation trips....

You're not the first to complain about tread life of a Michelin tire, but those complaints are few and far between. Let us know how well Michelin takes care of the situation for you. (Maybe they'll replace the OE tires with another style.)

I would e-mail Michelin.

Long story short, on our 07 Acadia, I purchased Cooper replacement tires. I e-mailed Cooper Tire complaining of road noise....Yes, road noise. Cooper made arrangements with the local shop where I bought and gave me full credit and applied towards a set of Generals. Cooper is certainly a class act company.

In fact, with our 14' for replacement tires in 3 months, I am leaning towards Cooper's SRX tire.

FWD or AWD?

Either way, the 3.6 doesn't have a TON of torque right off idle, so it would take an extreme lead foot to wear out tires that fast. My old 2006 GTO with 425 HP and RWD didn't go through tires that fast.

It's possible that your toe is off. If the tread is still flat against the road (camber) but the tires are toed in or out excessively, you'd get excessive wear. However, this type of wear usually results in feathering, where the tread blocks show uneven wear when viewed from the side. It can be tough to notice looking straight at the tread.

I've only had good experiences with Michelin's, so please do keep us informed. Unlike every OE Good-for-a-year tire, which has eventually cupped, slipped a belt, developed radial pull, or vibrated... well before it wore out. I've never gotten my money's worth out of a set of Goodyears so I was glad to see GM using Michelin.

Replacing tires at 17,700 miles.

Having the same problem with our 2017 GMC Acadia SLT. Tires are measuring 3/32 tread depth evenly across all four tires. Took it back to the dealership and they said GM would cover 55% of the cost of a new set, with the new set being the same tire. Filed a warranty claim with Michelin and took it to Discount Tire. They are giving me $120 credit per tire for a new set of tires and upgrading me to the proper tires for the vehicle. Discount rep told me that the tire Michelin Premier is not the correct tire for the car as it's not made for trucks/SUV's.

I have 36K miles on my 2017 and the factory Michelin tires are worn down to almost no tread. I used winter tires, so my Michelin tires do not have the full 36k miles on them. Mine are worn evenly.

I've never had long tread life on any Michelin, so I just assumed this was normal for such a soft tire. Since I don't use them in the winter, I will not replace them until there is zero tread left.

I have the same premature wear problem with two of my GM vehicles...a 2017 Acadia and a 2017 Envision. Michelin Premier LTX tires. Both vehicles have around 15K miles and none of the tires will pass inspection. Tire rotations were done as instructed. Had the Envision tires looked at by the dealer and they offered me 50% prorate which seems generous except that the prorate is only good on the same tires! I didn't even make it halfway through my lease with the first set so why in the world would I put the same tires on only to have to replace them yet again before the lease is up?? Even with the prorate, the new tires would cost over $500. Absurd! Dealership tech even acknowledged that they are having premature wear problem with these tires (soft rubber or something), so why would they offer me the same tires as replacement? Why not allow me to use the $ towards tires of my choice?
Did some research on Tire Rack and although these tires somehow get an overall favorable review, they get an abysmal score for tread life and there are numerous user reviews that complain about this.
GM wants to pass the blame on to Michelin, but I feel that since GM equipped their vehicles with these tires, they should stand by their product and do the right thing by offering to replace with a different tire that does not have well documented wear issues.

I remember reading that on one of Michelin's tire model, there was quality wear problems. It maybe from a particular LOT run during one month of production....for example. The ID on the tire will give you mo and year tires were manufactured.

You might want to contact Michelin direct.

Also, you might want to report to the BBB and make sure you mention the model of the tire and the ID specifics, etc, etc. The BBB worked for me on a refrigerator 8 years ago, that I had purchased from a local appliance store. Resolved in 4 days. Long story short.

Good luck.

Hey divotdug...always the contrarian aren't you? Honestly, you don't see a problem with tires that won't pass inspection after 15K miles, then buying another set, even at 50% prorate that will only have to be replaced again before EOL?
You must be a republican...total lack of empathy!
