I have a 2008 Acadia without the towing package but now am in need of one. I will be towing a driftboat for fishing that is not very heavy and I would say weights much less than 2,000 lbs. I am not very handy so I am looking for the easiest and cheapest way. Dealer or aftermarket parts?

Save yourself some headache and go to the dealer. Search for trailer hitch threads on here and you will find a lot of messages on this subject.

:welcome: to the absolute best site on the Internet for all your Acadia questions/answers! ;D

You have stumbled upon a highly talked about topic. There has been a lot said about this subject from owners without the V92 trailer option. My advice is to contact your dealership and ask them if they do the work themselves or do they contract out to someone else. Some owners without the towing package have had difficulty with trailer lighting because apparently some Acadia's without towing have a different fuse block installed and they have problems getting their trailer lights to work. Others have had no problems at all. Here are some topics you should read so you have accurate data to work with:

These should get you started, but if you want more info; use the search function and look for towing or trailer. I certainly don't want to discourage you from towing, but I think you should have all the info to make the best decision. Good luck and please update your signature block with your vehicle info; this will help with troubleshooting. Again :welcome: and happy reading
