Dumb Post here... but has anyone every wondered where does the name Acadia come from?

It's a region and former French colony of eastern Canada, chiefly in Nova Scotia but also including New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Cape Breton Island, and the coastal area from the St. Lawrence River south into Maine. During the French and Indian War (1755–1763) many Acadians migrated or were deported by the British to southern territories, including Louisiana, where their descendants came to be known as Cajuns.

.... and now you know.

Could it also mean Acadia National Park in Maine?

that's cool, thanks! I thought the name was familiar, as I visited New Orleans once and had looked into their history, ie. cajuns, and Creole.

Yup, and Acadia National Park is named after the Acadians that occupied that area before being rounded up and herded to Louisiana Territory (the last remaining French-controlled area of North America at the time).

So an Acadia Denali would be much the same as a Yellowstone Yosemite! ;)

Someone should take their Acadia to Acadia National Park and take a picture.
