Hello! I recently was involved in a car accident where I was merged into from the right side. I am wondering if the car will be totaled since it is a 2011 Acadia with 193,000 miles and one prior accident. No airbags deployed and nothing is leaking, but the engine sounds awful. The wreck was hard enough to spin me out and go down an embankment. Thank you!

Have the damages including under and inside the engine compartment inspected.
If the noise is cheaply repaired. . as @rbarrios says. . . . fix the mirror and rive it while you look around and see what you can eventually find for a newer lower mileage ride.

There is no engine damage to my eyes, but the car slammed down the hill and scrabbled a lot of dirt in.
I agree with @GEORGEC, only the insurance company can answer that question.

Cars are usually written off when damage exceeds 70-75% of the value of the vehicle. Trade-in value of your vehicle is probably around $4-5k. It is not going to take much damage for it to be totaled.

Looking at your pictures and based and the possibility of engine damage, I would bet on it being totaled.
That’s what I thought, we’ll see and I’ll keep you posted. I get news on Monday!
Hopefully this makes you feel better.
Brothers 2012 with 124k was 'totalled ' by insurance 2 days ago.
Driver and 2 children in car seats are ok.

I’m glad everyone is okay! My car definitely is not that bad, I remember my Rogue was equivalent to your pictures. the air bags and seat belts failed to deplo.
Hmmm,
If youre not ready for a new car payment..
see what the engine noise is.
Could be a shield that got bent and is rubbing on the belt..hoprfully its that simple...and if it is that simple
At that point id leave the body as is. Fix the mirror. And continue driving till it really fails
I am okay with the car, however we all know the major issues the car has. Many issues I’ve ignored and have either gone away or continue but just turn the music up. I am not gonna be sad if they total this out and I will take their spare change and go over to the Ford dealer.
Good luck with that Ford endeavor. Even Farley said recently that their quality issues will take years to correct.

I basically expect every Ford sold within the last 1-3 years to be toast by 100,000 miles. Those cars are going to have a LOT of problems.
You think more than the gmc? I’ve had so many problems with mine already that I’m ready to be done.
Update!
They did total the car, on to my next adventure with ford!
Most likely it will be totalled out. Hopefully you filed the claim with your own insurance and not the other guys...you will always get more for your vehicle that way.
I know what you mean about the issues with these cars. I have had my 2011 for about 14 months. Swaybar bushings swaybar links brakes and rotors all around wiper motor wheel bearings. Heater hoses sprang pinhole leaks at the quick connect fittings a month apart. Last month a new transmission now throttle body issues and misfires on 1 3 5 due to oil leaking into plug holes. A real money pit
GOOD LUCK and stay away from gm
I did file with my insurance and they did total it out thank god! The car has left me stranded three times, and has forced me to put over 7k into it in a year and a half.
These days it is crazy how they total a car. With the chip shortage, there are many cars sold with a rebuilt title, that have very little damage. You can take the VIN and run it online and more than likely find a pic of the car at the auction lot. I bought my wife's Equinox this way. I honestly could see no damage at all. Carfax confirmed it had been hit, but I could not see anything wrong. Went and looked at it and could see no issues at all. Drove great, and the price was just amazing. $18K for it with 39K miles and a new set of tires. We have 67K on it now, and only recently found a broken left tail light with a hairline crack. So yeah, you will get totaled. Yours is worth around $4500, and repairs these days will be more than that. Hope you come out OK.
lol So funny story the left tail light on Acadia had a crack as well and it used to fill up with water. I never cared because I don’t drive behind me so good luck to everyone else. But an officer pulled me over for and gave me warning, he turns out to be now be my boyfriend, and he fixed it when we started dating! So the tail light reminded me of that!

Also the car was worth (well they gave me) $6,800. It sucks because I just had new tires, brakes, rotors, new fluids, and sunroof drain cleaning, drive shaft, power steering pump, and fuel injector. $4,200 ish if I remember correctly. Whoever does end up buying my car from the total loss salvage yard they will be pleased with the maintenance.
