Hello! I recently was involved in a car accident where I was merged into from the right side. I am wondering if the car will be totaled since it is a 2011 Acadia with 193,000 miles and one prior accident. No airbags deployed and nothing is leaking, but the engine sounds awful. The wreck was hard enough to spin me out and go down an embankment. Thank you!

If youre not ready for a new car payment..
see what the engine noise is.
Could be a shield that got bent and is rubbing on the belt..hoprfully its that simple...and if it is that simple
At that point id leave the body as is. Fix the mirror. And continue driving till it really fails

Have the damages including under and inside the engine compartment inspected.
If the noise is cheaply repaired. . as @rbarrios says. . . . fix the mirror and rive it while you look around and see what you can eventually find for a newer lower mileage ride.

Cars are usually written off when damage exceeds 70-75% of the value of the vehicle. Trade-in value of your vehicle is probably around $4-5k. It is not going to take much damage for it to be totaled.

Looking at your pictures and based and the possibility of engine damage, I would bet on it being totaled.

There is no engine damage to my eyes, but the car slammed down the hill and scrabbled a lot of dirt in.

I’m glad everyone is okay! My car definitely is not that bad, I remember my Rogue was equivalent to your pictures. the air bags and seat belts failed to deplo.

I am okay with the car, however we all know the major issues the car has. Many issues I’ve ignored and have either gone away or continue but just turn the music up. I am not gonna be sad if they total this out and I will take their spare change and go over to the Ford dealer.

Good luck with that Ford endeavor. Even Farley said recently that their quality issues will take years to correct.

I basically expect every Ford sold within the last 1-3 years to be toast by 100,000 miles. Those cars are going to have a LOT of problems.

All my GM cars have been trouble free..... as I stare out my window and look at the 2003 Trailblazer... still going.
Id be replacing my 2010 Traverse. Wife will continue to drive her 2013 Equinox- also with the 3.6.

Hope you can find a decent deal on a 2023.
My closest GM dealer, which sells a lot of trucks, has only a row of some new yellow fleet trucks on the lot.
Other than that, their website shows 47 in stock vehicles, but only about 4 Buick Encore, 10 Chevy Equinox, 1 2023 Chevy Traverse (says - Not Available ? ), one 2023 Malibu, and a mix of others.
However . . . all of the stock on the website has a "Check Availability" on each vehicle.
I noticed many dealers using that now rather then stating " In Transit".
When I drive by the dealer several times a week and even cruise onto the lot. . . the only cars that I see from the above list is the row of yellow fleet trucks and the 4 Buick Encores.
GM also has a Red Tag sale going on but deliveries must be by January 3 I believe. Even then, the most off MSRP seems to be about a possible $500, $500 + $1,000 stack incentives.

Why buy a tired 2023 Traverse now when the new 2024 C1 redesigns are coming out in 4Q2023? You've had the Lambda this long, why not wait a year?

If you want to go that route, Reuss just announced that the Traverse would be launching first now, instead of the Acadia (which was supposedly going to be first originally).

My money is on the sidelines waiting to see the 2024's.

Well, for me it would be 1 of 2 things:

• a deal breaker
• the reason for a $1500 discount after all other negotiations are done

I'm not married to GM so no divorce is necessary, just walk out the door.

To be honest. . . . I've been a +30 new GM vehicle buyer since 1974 and also had a few previously owned ones earlier, besides a handful of other brand cars, trucks, etc vehicles.

But at this point with (too many) EVs on the horizon and changes to 4 and even 3 cylinder turbo engines, CVTs and other technological "advances" . .. . I am not sure what would be our next vehicle purchase.

I keep hoping that vehicle makers would at least go with hybrids first till infrastructure and other EV issues are sorted out.
I see a battery company in China has developed a sodium ion battery that meets or exceeds lithium ion output and at lower cost with much less production and recycling costs as well little environmental side effects.

In the mean time, I see myself staying with the 3 ICE GM vehicles we now own. And that is two going on 6 years old and our Acadia going on 4 years old but only has 11K miles on it.

I am with you. In 60 years of driving GM cars the worst problem that I have had is a bad head gasket. Most have had zero problems. Including my current 2013 Acadia and 2013 Cadillac SRX.

If i wait for the 24, dont want to be the owner getting all the glitches on a new model and engine.
Then, it seems theyre going away from v6 to smaller engines with turbos...
Dont know if thats the case with the next gen traverse.. it happened allready with 2nd gen.
Then gm's move away from gas to electric.
As for onstars fee.... thats what i read or heard... but have not looked into it further.
We will see what i do.
