Thermostat Replacement

Has anyone replaced a thermostat on the 2017 3.6L Acadia? I am experiencing temp pegged on cold, no A/C, cooling fan running all the time with P0128 code stored. Looking for location of thermostat and estimate on difficulty. Having to ask where the thermostat is located is already a bod start.

Hi I have a 2019 Acadia and it’s doing the same thing, A/c not working, temp gauge isn’t working. If I replace the thermostat should that fix the problem?
Do you also have a check engine light? If so, what are the codes?
Had the same issue as everyone here. P0128 code. Steering Assist reduced. Fan full speed. No A/C. Check engine light. Pulling the battery and resetting the code only clears things temporarily. It will come back and happen more often because the thermostat will get stuck more. The only fix is to replace the thermostat and housing. $1,400 repair at the dealer. My dealer was well aware of the this issue on Acadia’s and Traverses. There is even a GM service bulletin at this point telling the dealers about the issue and how to repair. Unfortunately at this point the shotty parts are passed to the consumers to repair at this point. If you haven’t paid the $500 shift to park repair yet on your Acadia be ready for that too. Had that fixed twice already under 65k mikes.

What year is yours? I wonder why the 2018s (only) also have a bulletin stating to update the ECM?

2018 3.6L SLT
The difficulty and cost does not affect the 2nd gen Traverse as the 3.6 in the traverse has the thermostat on the side vs the acadias under the intake.
Different version of the 3.6.
