Excuse my terminology, or lack thereof, but my wife and I have had our Acadia for a little over one month, but have already received a "ding" in the plastic protective strip on the passenger side front door (right behind the "Acadia" emblem). The good news is that the sheet metal wasn't dented, the bad news is the jag-off who made the ding must have tried to harm our door, as he/she opened his/her car door hard enough to slightly tear the surface of the plastic strip, exposing the black beneath our Liquid Silver paint. I don't believe I can use touch up paint to fix it, both because of the dark color of the plastic, and also because the 'ding' in the plastic has left a raised/rough surface to the tear.

Two questions:

1) Does anyone have any suggestions for repairing this?

2) If not, what is the proper term for the strip so I can order a replacement?

Thanks for your help.

Your probably best off ordering a new one since the labor would be minimal to install it. I don't know what you would call it but the parts guys or the body shop will know what to get.
