Hi I've had my 2008 Acadia SLT2 for a year and lately when it's cold (around 35 degrees) when I turn the steering wheel I hear a clunking noise.
Any suggestions as to what it might be? Took it to the dealer but they did not find anything.
I noticed that too, when it is cold, the first time (and only first) I turn
the sterring wheel left then right, I hear two distinct "pops or clunks";
one when i turn left of centered, then one when I turn right of centered,
then I will not hear it again until I stop the car, and it is allowed to get "fully"
cold (like 8 hours or more). If I allow the car to get cold for less time (5 hours),
the noise is not as loud.
I called the dealer and they told me to bring it in, but I'm sure they will say the same,
thing they told you.
A really good dealer would have you bring it in the day before they look at it, give you a free loaner car for overnight, and then wait until you come in the next morning to sit with you as you demonstrate the problem. I'm sure that my dealer would do this. Of course, that's why I have bought my last 6 cars from them.
