I have a 2010 Traverse.
When we had my bro visit- his kid whent in the 40 portion of the 2nd row.
And my then 6month old- went into the 3rd row. rear facing position.
We achieved this by using the car seat that comes with the stroller.

You know the combo set- stroller/infant carrier. we normally use that carrier with the BASE in the 2nd row.
But- that carrier can also be used WITHOUT the base-- by attaching the seat belt around it. (follow owners manual).
so we did use it back there.
also allowed us to carry 8 passengers (6 adults and 2 babies)

we placed the infant on the drivers side.
This because my bros kid was on the 2nd row 40 portions. this allowed the 60 portion to be folded/moved to allow easier entry to the 3rd row passengers.

let me know if you need pics of the seat setup-- so you can get an idea.

 

I read thru my 2009 owner's manual, and according to that, there's no LATCH system in the 3rd row, only a top teather anchor in the middle position, so I assume you should use the middle seat in the 3rd row if you need that, but if I remember right, the rear facing seats don't use the teather, so this is probably not an issue....just know that regardless, there's no LATCH back there, only on the middle row, two outboard positions. Have to use the regular seatbelt.

 

Hi Delane - I have 4 small kids so the car seat logistics and adult positions is always a fun game. If there's LATCH in all seat positions, it' makes it much easier. I can't remember if my Acadia has latch in the 3rd row, but believe it does in the outer 2 positions, maybe not in the middle. I think you have 3 basic choices assuming you only have the 2 newborns:

1) put both bases in the outer positions in the third row.

2) split up the kids. One in back, one in second row. This would enable you to have one adult sitting next to a newborn in each row if needed. (sub option here is to fold down 1/2 of the 3rd row & put the bucket in teh base from teh back vs. climbing in from the front.

3) put both bases in the 2nd row. Obvious problem here is it's a pain to get to the 3rd row as an adult w/ the seats not collapsed fwd.


It's a choose your poision proposition. I also have a suburban and the problem still exists so in this case, size doesn't matter.

It didnt for us.
as using the base- makes the carrier stick out far enough- that it hits the back of the 2nd row seat. and since we needed all seats.. it was not a viable solution.

But placing the carrier by itself and routing the seat belt thru the right spots soon became easy to do.

There's not. the Lambdas all have the same seats, and the 3rd row only has a teather anchor in the middle position of the 3rd row, NO latch anchors. (unless they added this after 2009, very doubtful)

You are correct!

There are two types of child restraint, LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) and Top Teather. My 07 has the LATCH anchors on the captains chairs however, on backs of the third row and both the captains chairs there are Top Teather anchors..

They should have LATCH anchors on every rear seat IMO, after all these are family vehicles and we should not be limited to which seats we want to use the LATCH..
