My radio and the sound on my turn signal keep cutting in and out on my 2007 GMC Acadia. I will be driving down the road and the radio will cut in and out, if I have my turn signal on at the same time the noise the signal makes will also cut in and out with the radio in a random pattern. It seems to happen more often in the morning when it is cool outside than in the afternoon when it is hot, not sure if this has anything to do with it cutting out.

Can anyone tell me what this may be?

Isn't this only possible with the Bose system? :shrug:

Almost sounds as if there's a loose connection to either the radio or the speakers. Does the radio display flash when the sound cuts out, too?

I did search the forum for this issue and never found anything...it is a Bose sound system. The display to the radio never flashes, the sound just cuts out on the radio (sometimes makes loud popping noise), along with the turn signal sound. I have also notice when i get into the car the the dome noise cuts in and out also. Whatever the issue it is affecting all of the interior sounds the car makes.

Are you a DIY type of person? If so, it might be a good thing to check, clean and tighten up all the connections and fuse holders for the radio system before considering any parts replacement.

Amplifier. I live with mine cutting in and out. If your gonna take the whole dash apart to get to the connectors you might as well replace it with a new one (they were on backorder).

I am a do it DIY guy but not when it comes to electronics in my car, so I took it to the dealership to get checked out They couldn't duplicate the issue while in the shop (of course), so there were no error codes that showed up when they checked the system. The technician took the radio out and checked the connections to the amplifier. No apparent loose connections, but he did put electrical grease on the connectors. He said that solves about 90% GM electrical problems. I haven't had the issue since, but I am not so confident that it solved the problem. It is a good first step before replacing the amplifier ($396 plus labor) which he said would be the next step.

Thanks for the input, I will let you know if the problem comes back in a week or two.

When mine cuts out, it can be months in between. So far, it has only happened in the summer so I expect it to happen soon.....

The dielectric grease is actually to prevent corrosion from happening. It doesn't conduct electricty.

Hmmm.... when the OP mentions a popping sound, the old guitar tech/stage manager in me thinks a ground wire is funky somewhere.

I'd be more apt to use a no-ox-id type product vs die electric grease. The grease is really designed for a higher voltage application, and then
you can only put it on the outside of the connection, it could actually interfere with conductivity when used any other way. No-ox-id you could apply directly to the components prior to re-assembly and it would nicely address the oxidation (corrosion) issue.

But what do I know, I'm just a chick.... ;D

Well, unfortunately my radio has started doing this today.

I noticed it first when standing outside the vehicle with the door open, it was making a loud popping noise through the speakers - did this 3 times in about 4-5mins. When I got in and started I had no chimes or radio. After a few seconds the radio came on and was cutting in and out. After a few minutes of driving it seemed to be fairly stable and only cut out once more in the next 15 mins before I got to my destination.

Will likely try to replace the amp before our summer road trip.

My 2007 also does this it makes a popping and crackling sound frpm speakers very loud. I've posted on this before but seemed like it isnt a common issue and I also have bose.

realize this post is from 2013, but did you ever fix the problem? I’m having this same problem now for months and I’m getting fed up. I’m just trying to make sure I’m not going to waste money buying a new amplifier! Thanks!

My wifes acadia started making this deafening sound anytime audio was supposed to play (turn signals, chimes, radio, etc.) I am replacing the amp today hopefully it solves the problem. I took out the old one yesterday and it is a pain to work with.

If anyone else ever has this problem; I fixed it by replacing the amp. It is a very tough job. Tight squeezes, little room for tools, and awkward positioning. Nothing about it was easy. The Amp is located up and behind the emergency brake. Locked in with 3 screws. 2 of them you cant see, and the one you can see you can't fit a tool in to turn it. I would recommended buying a finger ratchet. Even after you get the screws out, it is difficult to unplug it because it is plugged in from the back with 3 different connections. I went ahead and unplugged all the wires to the Body Control Module as well because they seemed to be in the way. I don't know if you have too but it gave me some more room and confidence that I wasn't going to damage them. There is a short youtube video that gives you an idea on how to do it. Also, I got my part off amazon and it is the same as the stock.

So it's possible. Just very hard to do in my opinion. Good luck!

I dont understand why every one say amp .. they must know nothing about gmc and bose... Bcm allow the inside radio module to send a signal to unlock bose amp so that bose amp can output/play speakers.... changed bose amp 3 times nit fixed nothing .. have a after market radio with a can bus that made for bose Acadia that will send that signal to bose amp... sometime sound come back or a creeping sound where you turn off radio and sound stay... when I put factory radio bose that was working I still have no sound... fuse goods 12V there and ground to amp...

HOW TO CURE NO SOUND/BUGS PROBLEM . .. I heard plenty of new gmc models have to call on star to get free update on module software to remove bugs like the no sound bugs... A guy said the dealer Gm tech made a call to on star he put the car on reverse gear while on phone with on star and gave the gmc acadia vin then sound pop back on.. on star did an update on radio module... took less then 10 min ... I also heard sometime you have to reprogram bcm so that he allow bose stock radio or can bus from aftermarket radio to send signal unlocking bose amp output to speakers...

If you read these up posts its just mechanic tech that think they know gmc but they know nothing and figure out sound wont if a amp is burned... ( logic but its bull **** on gmc acadia/traverse/enclave/outlook)

Amp have no problems its software update .. gmc made these bugs so that peoples go repair at dealers and so that Gmc steal many cash$$$$

Also once software update r made bcm/radio ... Every one should unplug the onstar module located in the trunk left inside wall, where is your car factory jack for spare tire....just an advice if you wanna save big money!!!

the onstar gmc acadia module can comunicate with all your car module and do anything... ,see if you have engine code or where is your car if stolen...
