hello all, my first post.
i have a 2008 Acadia with 90,XXX mi on it that we bought used last Aug. well we just experienced the whole engine run with the keys turned off and dead battery the following morning. the carpet on both sides in front was wet and we had water in the back overhead lights and it too dripped onto the carpet. had the vehicle towed in and we need a new fuse panel, carpets dried and the drain line cleaned out, the dealer is telling me it's going to cost 1,400.00 to fix this defect. i am in the process of asking them to call gmc and go to bat for me since its obvious that this is a design flaw and a quality control flaw. i can't tell you how pizzed i am.

If this was me.....

I would remove the seats and carpet. (leaving the drivers seat- and maybe the passenger seat)
then take it in to have the fuse box replaced.

I would then put the carpet/seats back in.

Im sure part of that cost is time to remove and put back in the carpet/seats.
this could lower your cost.

Hi JimHnSTL,

I am sorry to hear that you have multiple concerns with your Acadia. What has your dealer said about this situation? I would like to look into your concern so I can provide additional assistance to you. Please private message me with your VIN, mileage, contact information, and the dealer you are working with.

Best,

I'm having this same issue with my new-to-me 2007 Acadia--carpets wet (and at times water will pour in on me when I begin moving the car after it has rained). After turning off the ignition, the car will keep running (sometimes upward of 10 seconds). Upon attempting to start the car this morning, the battery is completely drained (can't even get the power locks to work) despite having recently replaced the battery. I contacted two local GM dealerships with information about the TSB posted earlier and asking for information about the repairs. I was quoted a price of $500 and upwards just to run electrical diagnostics, and both dealerships felt that I would be responsible for the complete cost given the high mileage on my car (~160K). One of the dealerships said that I might have been previously eligible for "offers" on the service through GM but that those had "expired".

Any advice from the collective wisdom of the group? As a student, there is no way I can afford service with a starting price tag of $500 for just figuring out the problem (esp. when I'm confident that the sunroof leak described on this thread and in the TSB is a major contributor). I have been really happy with my Acadia in the few months I've had it, but can't afford to be missing school and work because my car won't start and certainly can't afford to spend hundreds to thousands to correct an issue I inherited and which sounds common to these models.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do what I did when I was in school. Get rid of the car and use alternate transportation.

Don't know what else to say, except hope that the repair is less than what you were quoted. $500.00 seems a bit high for a simple diagnostic fee.

Thanks Forumer! I didn't expect any help from them anyway. Acadia's been one of the least reliable vehicles we have ever owned.

I am experiencing this same issue as I sit stranded at work waiting for a friend to pick me up. Just last week the motor fan would not turn off thus draining the battery every time I parked the truck. Bought a jump starter while I had a friend discover it was a shorted out relay switch. We replaced it and was relatively easy. Yesterday my engine would not turn off when I took the key out. It sputtered for a few seconds then stalled out. This morning, low a behind, my battery was dead- jumped it with my nifty jump starter I bought from last week's issue and I was on my way. But not for long.
Just got off work and my battery is dead. Tried my jump starter- no luck. I thought maybe the jump starter was leak from this morning so I asked a co-worker for a jump. Nothing. The dash lit up and all but would not even turn over. Stranded. Picked my work bag and purse from the front passenger floorboard and felt they were wet. Very frustrating. Dead truck, stranded and now wet workpapers. Buying a new battery to install tonight so a mechanic can not try to blame GMCs problem on a battery. Will update all but am calling GMC first thing in the morning.
GMC really re-think their reluctance on issuing recalls to save their customers. I need some response from GMC as I know this is not the first time they have heard such things about the Acadia. Never, will I ever, purchase a GMC again.

***Update- replaced the battery last night and it was sitting in 2 inches of water and entire front right dloorboard soaked from rain this past weekend! Next morning with the new batter- it's dead. How frustrating. I'm call GMC now and skipping the run around and bogus diagnosis that will cost a fortune and not even fix the problem.

I have this same problem on a 2008 Acadia with 114,000 miles. No warranty. Car running after turned off, key removed. Also, battery being drained while car completely off to the point it won't even jump start. Already replaced alternator. I also have water in my passenger side carpet, so it sounds very similar to all the conditions mentioned in this post. I took to dealer and they said the issues are due to me needing a new Powertrain Control Module. ~$650 fix. When I search this forum, I see few other problems with the PCM. Anybody else have experience with these issues?

well water is getting in somewhere.
It may have even gotten on the fuse box.

This is a known issue on the 1st generation Acadias, water getting on the fuse box.

Usually its a sunroof drain hose leak.
If no sunroof, then a leak around front glass.

I currently have the same issues with my 2010 Acadia and just had the body control module replaced. Found out yesterday it does not fix the problem at all. I will talk to my dealership this week about the leaking because I have noticed it leaks in heavy rain.
