I know this is probably one of those things that I will say "duh" over when I get the answer but for now it's troubling me.

On the forward overhead console (the one with the garage door buttons, sunroof controls, etc) about 2 inches above the middle garage door button, there is a roughly 1 centimeter long and 1 centimeter wide hole that emits an orange light at various and as far as I can tell, non specific purposes.

Does anyone know what the function of this is?

Thanks!

I think it comes on when the vehicle determines the interior light conditions have dimmed (the same way the nav screen will switch from a white background during the day to a black one at night, it might also be linked to the automatic headlights but not sure, I will have to monitor closer.
