Hi
I just bought a ‘17 Acadia Denali and have a question. Forgive my ignorance, but what is the rust looking circular component to the left of the oil filler cap? Not a picture of my engine, but have the same component. Thanks in advance.

Appears to be the low note...

Isnt that one of the horns?
Thanks for replying. I thought it was the horn at first, then I looked up “2017 GMC Acadia Denali Horn” and the picture it came back with is completely different.

It is the horn ..
The pic below shows how I modified the bracket so that the horn points downward like the horn on the right side of the engine bay.
I took the horn off, removed the bracket and bent it downward after studying how much and where to bend it.
It still clears the A/C line below it by about an inch. And the wires to the horn also accommodate the modification also.
No big deal to do it.

In 2020 onward it is mounted downward.

No idea why they had that left horn sitting like it was on 2017 to 2019.

Every time I opened the hood I couldn't stand how ridiculous that looked.

Thank you for replying. It’s interesting how on every picture I’ve seen of the “Horn” including the one you sent there is an actual Horn shape to the component. On my Denali and the picture I originally posted it is just a black hockey puck shape with no “Horn” shape to it. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I appreciate you & your reply.

I agree. It doesn't look like a horn in your picture because they mounted it with the "horn" face pointing down.

When I remounted mine, I turned the horn around on the bracket and bolted it to the bracket in the position shown in my picture.

Weird that they did that for 3 years then changed it on +2020 models.

They gotta justify the up charge so the mount something in a different location and call it an upgrade lol. Thanks again for replying. I appreciate you.
Bet you water intrusion and muffling the horn from it being sideways
Better to point it down...
