hi guys,

I just found this site and immediately registered, great site - thanks.
Its my first post so be gentle with me!

am currently working in the Middle East and about of order my Acadia here! I just need some help to make my mind up.
I can purchase SLE for equivalent $28,800 but my kids want DVD player and to have the factory fitted DVD I must consider SLT-1. The price of SLT-1 is approx $34,000, I just wanted to know the difference between SLE and SLT-1 justifies to pay extra $6000?
Cheers

thanks for your response mate, i agree u can but the dealer here has factory fitted on SLT only, i can get SLE and get the DVD put in from a specialist shop but i read in this forum that to get the best out of DVD (controls) you must get factory fitted DVD!

If you don't need the extras that the SLT comes with, I would spend 2000 bucks on a new in dash Nav/DVD and a 15" screen for the kids. You can get wireless head sets. The Nav/Dvd systems from Pioneer also easily integrate Bluetooth and I-Pods. If you want to spend 3000 you can have a Nav/DVD with hard drive so you can load music right onto it and the Nav maps are also stored on the hard drive instead of on DVD. So if SLE is what you want/need then I would get that and an aftermarket and skip the SLT.

I have an SLE with and aftermarket over head DVD player and it works great.

I have a Advent 35. It comes with 2 wireless headsets, remote, built in FM transmitter and build in games and game remote.

It has some cool features on it to like a pause button on the driver side to I can pause the movie easy to tell me kids something

If you want pix let me know .

I have found them on-line for $742

The first one I had was a ROSEN brand. I do not recommend a ROSEN DVD because I had nothing but problems with that one . I can post the list of issue if you want then

Quick question are you buying your car through AAFESS? I bought my PT Cruiser thought them back it 2002 I wish I could still buy though them it was so much easier.

One thing that I would op for is the Climate (temperature) controls: tri-zone, automatic for driver, right-front passenger, second, and third-row passengers.

I didn't get that and I wish I did

I would start by researching pioneer's website or eclipse's website. As for installation if you are doing it your self I know there are a couple threads on this site that show how to install an aftermarket Nav. The Screen would be a different story, but I have installed them and it's not really hard. I would definently suggest researching different units by different manufactures (Pioneer, Eclipse, Kenwood, Sony, Etc). Typically the bluetooth, Ipod systems are just plug and play modules that you buy from the manufacture.

thats very good point mate, specially in the heat here, this alone swings it back to SLT as SLE certainly does not have this option! I would still consider aftermarket sat-nav though!

thanks for this mate, but i think i would have to go for the SLT as the climate control is must in this region.

Get your deposit transferred to an SLE! You can kill two birds with one stone by ordering option code U42, which is the rear seat DVD player. It stickers at $2,055 but for that you get the overhead DVD player, tri-zone AC, and an upgraded dash unit. From reading your posts, this should cover everything, and you will still be under the SLT-1 base price. Copied from an SLE window sticker:
ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM - DVD
2 HEADPHONES WITH BOSE
SPEAKER SURROUND SOUND
AM/FM STEREO CD/MP3 FORMAT
(REPLACES STD/OPT RADIO)
REAR SEAT AUDIO CONTROLS
TRI-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL

The only real advantage to the SLT-1 for me is the HUD, but it adds up to a $2~3K option to step up to the SLT-1 and I can't justify that for a $350 option, plus I end up with leather when I want cloth.

Strange you asked this question, surprised me really. Just kill your curiosity, I’m from mother England, this may not surprise you/him, but probably explain the similarity! :eek:hno:

Thanks for your response/help mate, i appreciate that but unfortunately the ME market is dissimilar to probably rest of the world, but definitely from North America. Here the dealers (only two in this instant) order ready made cars, in other words you get what they have on the forecourt/backyard with very little or no option. I did try your suggested route, as I did not want leather but wanted a sunroof and DVD but both of those dealers had either DVD or sunroof, but not both (except SLT-2). I had the option to go for sunroof (SLT-1) but then getting the aftermarket dvd was not my preferable option as the many posts on the forum suggested factory fitted DVD as better option. The thing that swung it for me was the climate control on SLT and now I feel gutted to discover that even that was an option.
Now i am in a hunt for aftermarket Sat-Nav and perhaps rear camera, point me in the right direction if u could.
cheers

Don't forget General Motors Offers Discounts to Military People

Boot camp will finally pay off, if it’s just for the military discount to be given by General Motors. Everyone has criticized everyone else on how neglected the military are, like how the US is creating more and more veterans that America can’t even take care of. It’s nice to see how an American company takes the step forward in making sure that the men and women of the military finally get some just desserts.
Basically, it “enables active and reserve members of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, National Guard and Coast Guard to get a new vehicle discount. Under the program, military members can receive as much as a $1,500 discount off the MSRP of a new Buick Enclave crossover; $2,200 off a new Chevrolet Impala sedan; or as much as $4,200 off a new GMC Sierra pickup truck.”
