Mirror Memory randomly wrong position

2017 Denali now @ 99k
Around 45k the mirrors would go up or down yo a random position: 1) after a shift from reverse 2) upon a startup.

Constantly have to reposition and set the memory on the door panel again and again. I've worn the number 1 off the button!
Dealer says every time that they are Unable to reproduce so they cannot fix it. One mirror motor was replaced but solved nothing.

I can get into it when picking it up from the dealer and it will do it again, yet they say there's nothing they can do until it does it all of the time🤬

I ask myself, there MUST be a next step for the service tech to take rather than just blow it off. 50k+ miles I've dealt with this Same continuing issue. GM Sux!!

Are you saying it's a random failure? There's not a lot a tech can do if they cannot reproduce the failure.

Out of all the posts in the forum this one seemed to be what one owner found worked after going to another dealer for the problem. It seems they found a software code issue:
Post #15 in the linked thread below and quoted - - -
Outside Mirror moves on its own

" Ask the dealer to do a software update. I had struggled with this issue for over a year on my 2018 Acadia Denali. Took three trips to the Dealership. I've had the actuator replaced (a mechanical fix)...did not solve issue. I've replaced the battery in the fob...did not solve issue. I experienced every one of the issues noted by other posters above. And I heard all the same responses (i.e. cannot replicate). Felt like an idiot. But the issue was indeed real!

Finally, the foreman of the dealership got involved. After a series of tests, a code was returned of "unknown calibration" of the driver-specific memory settings.
The software was then updated, which seems to have finally fixed it. In the end, modern cars are inescapably 'computers on wheels.' Hope this helps anyone else who may be encountering this issue. "

My 2011 did the same thing for years. Never could get it corrected (same excuse - “unable to replicate”).

It seems it takes a skilled senior technician / shop foreman to dig into how to diagnose this issue.

I have a 2021 and it did almost the exact same thing. I noticed a day after it rained, or after I washed it, it would do it.
After almost a dozen times in the shop, they discovered the wiring harness was getting wet and shorting out.
Thanks!
I took it back Again and asked that the software be updated. Service advisor said it was up to date and that it would not fix the issue. Told me Again, that they cannot make the mirrors misbehave and cannot do anything about it until the mirrors go to the improper positions all of the time. Don't believe the dealer service department is going to even bother anymore.
I also contacted the GMC service advisor via Facebook Messenger. Basically since its an intermittent issue nothing can be done. I.E. I'm the only one with this issue.🤬
If you can't demonstrate the failure for the shop or the shop cannot reproduce the failure, what would you suggest the dealer do?
Thanks!

Apparently, the dealer just "checked that the software was up to date" . .. but not IF . . .
" After a series of tests, a code was returned of "unknown calibration" of the driver-specific memory settings. "

If they just check that software was up to date. . . but not courrpted and had an error. . . . then nothing would have been found. They need to dig into and check for a software error.

As indicated in Post #3 above.

Maybe go back and have them check for any "Unknown Errors" in the affected Memory Seat Module like the service foreman did in the referenced successful fix, or ask them to do the same referencing that another service department found this fault.
Or talk to another dealer.

Just asking them to see if the software is " up to date " isn't going to fix it.

After 2+ years of the same issue along with repeated trips to the dealer I would expect some Advanced troubleshooting or contact gm for guidance. Once they do A, B and C there HAS to be a Next Step in finding the cause.
It indeed gets old. Just like my adaptive cruise errors with chime. They now tell me the errors are the way its Supposed to work 🤬

There is always a next step.

Since your vehicle is out of warranty, how much are you willing to spend in diagnostic time to takes those steps? Surely you don't expect someone else to pay for your out of warranty problems?

That's one of the reasons I lease my daily drivers. I'm always driving a vehicle that's under warranty.

I currently have a bumper to bumper extended warranty that will cover it, less the $100 deductible.
Thanks!

Don't worry, they eventually stop working completely.
