What are some items that you heard will be in the Acadia Denali?

While I was bored a couple weeks ago I modified the show vehicle to look like a Denali....

Any one know if and when a Denali version might be available?
Nothing but rumors. Some have said maybe later this year. Best best is probably not until at least next year.

I guarantee that if they put the 400 hp Corvette LS2 (ie Chevy Trailblazer SS) with the 6 sp auto (or manual) into the Acadia, and call it a Denali Acadia (in native American means "2 parks"), we will have 2 Acadias (and bye-bye to the BMW)! That would sure be a fun and useful car!

Too bad the LS2 is not set up for transverse installations. But maybe the LS4 5.3 liter that is in the Impala SS and Grand Prix GXP would work.

Fun, yes, to drive. Fun, no, at the gas tank.

Feeling the pain with my 300 hp V8 Denali(Envoy). 11 mpg around town. Ouch! 15 on hgwy

Wow, even my heads/cam/every bolt-on modified 5.3 (est 375 hp and 400 lb-ft) gets 15 around town and 19-20 highway with my heavy foot.

Lucky light, areodynamic car, tall rear gears, and double overdriven 6 speed! Regardless, the GenIII and IV engines are wonderful from a performance v. economy standpoint and super easy to wrench on. Did you get the factory delivery when you bought your vette?

Now, how many mpg does your '69 vette get???? ;D

No, I just bought this car in July....

The factory does not delivery them, the National Corvette Museum (who I work for) does...

Light yes, but the Acadia's aero is .334 and the Vette is .28, so not that much better on aero...

Much better than an Envoy (.75) or fullsize pickup (1.0) though ;).

I won't have access to the Denali info, if they in fact release it until April 30th. That is when the GMC 2008 MY info comes out.

I too heard that it would get a new V8 the GM is working on, but that engine is not scheduled to be ready until 1QTR08.

I also read that the 8 cyl. engine will be all new, and specifically designed for a transverse mount[/color]. Would be very cool to drive, but the cost of gas wouldn't be - especially at Calif. gas prices :'(

i think being a heavy tuck shaped like a brick with a 4 speedauto kinda killed my gas mileage.

Loved the power though.

Here is a list of drag Coefficients that I found I went looking because 1 didn't seem right for a truck. Check out the formula 1 race car. Who would have thought that would be at the top of the list. If an HT is .57 I doubt that a truck has a Cd of 1. I also thing that the difference between the corvette and tahoe is significant and causes a huge fuel mileage difference.

* 0.7 to 1.1 - typical values for a Formula 1 car (downforce settings change for each circuit)
* 0.7 - Caterham Seven

That's a lot of great info, but just for the record, the .75 coeff for an Envoy and 1.0 for a Silverado where numbers I made up to exaggerate how unaerodynmic they are in comparison to a Corvette or an Acadia. ;)
