This is for those who either live near or have visited the Mall of America....I know they have the indoor amusement park, and the zoo is nearby. What else should I explore while I'm there? Travelling with 4th & 8th grade children the second week of April if that makes a difference.

Try and stay at the Water park of america, its a huge indoor water park, with hotel and is blocks from the Mall, I usually try and take the kids there during the winter, nice getaway for the kids. Its only a couple year old water park. Also my favorite thing to do at the Mall of America is go through the Underwater Adventures Aquarium thats in the mall, its an extremely good aquarium, especially for being in the midwest, amazing what all they have there. Here thier website http://www.underwaterworld.com/

I live 1 1/2 hours from mall of america, and on some weekends we will drive there just to go eat at Bubba Gumps Shrimp Shack, love eating there.

They started a contest to see who can ride the SpongeBob coaster the longest, they started early Wednesday morning. That ride might not smell too good by the time we arrive. :'(

We visited in '97 or was it '99 (had visited WI so Mrs. Blue could see some snow & I could almost wipe out our kid on a snowmobile )? Anyway, the thing I remember about the Mall is the Build-A-Bear store. :)

The Mall was OK, the coaster contest took 9 days before they ended it with a "rock, paper, scissors" contest.
The SPongebob coater was nice with it's vertical up & down path in the beginning of the ride.
Didn't see any of the Nick characters while we were there.
The Zoo nearby was nice, the monorail ride was the best part as you could see more animals that way.

We go to the Mystic Lake Casino at least once a year and the Mall is always on the radar. Entertainment and all kinds of food.
Lunch is always on the menu. Wife always finds stuff at j-jill, Nordstroms, etc......etc. Minneapolis is always on our map!
6-1/2 hour drive and 2 nights to get away.
