2017 Acadia Denali

Hey all, before I make a service call I need some help with something. I recently got a car wash and when I got home I had water leaking in the rear window. Not a lot however but enough to make me question it? Is it something I did or a gasket or what? The rear hatch/trunk was closed securely. I did notice that when I was wiping/drying back of car off that it looks like the window is separated from plastic a little in the middle.

It seems a fairly common issue that can come up.
Most often it is the seal around the rear center high mounted brake light that is the cause.

But, yes, the window itself is installed and held in place by a continuous bead of synthetic rubber sealant.
That can sometimes have or develop a separation or leak if something occurred during installation or due to some other cause as time goes on.

Okay thank you for the info. Should I schedule a service call then?

Yes, I would, but perhaps query the dealer and maybe even stop in at a few GM service shops when you see they are not too busy with customers at the service writers desks. I like to do that and talk face to face to get a feel for how well they listen to my issue, see how well acknowledge it, have they dealt with this relatively common issue, etc.

I find that somewhere between 9:30 and 11AM things are less busy for the service writers and have time to chat and then accept an appointment.

If you are not liking what a service writer is saying or acting, try another dealer. Then make you appointment at the one you feel is most responsive.

There's a similar post in this forum which has a lot more information which I have already replied
My 2019 Acadia had the same problem for at least a year, they kept replacing the door seals, which wasn't the problem, it was the light at the top of the door, they replaced a bulb and didn't seat the light properly which was causing the leak. When it was raining really hard, the water would run down on the inside of the door. For a long time, after a day of rain, the next day I would always have a wet area just inside the door, fortunately I had an old car mat from my 2010 Mariner I keep there. The way the dealer eventually discovered the problem was the manager of service took over and brought my car to their car wash bay. He kept running it through with no leak. The guy running the car wash told him to keep doing it and eventually it did leak.

Agree. . .. quite a few owners have had a water leak on the upper rear hatch due to a gasket/seal around that center brake light at the top of the rear hatch door.
We have a 2019 and even drove 300 miles in the rain. Bought it new in June 2019 and so far have not experienced any water leaks.
Just some have the flaw and likely that gasket didn't seal correctly.
