I don't know how well this kind of stuff goes over here cause I'm new but..
I took the New girl out alone on the highway this morning and opened her up a bit. I was a little hesitant cause it's only got 500 miles on it but it was all in the name of science, Anyway, I found out a couple things this morning 1. it makes alot of it's power in the upper RPM range, 2.at 112 mph the Heads up display tries to talk some sense into you by telling you to check your gauges,(it didn't) 3.At least one NY state trooper has never seen a Arcadia before.(has now)
I can't remember what the top speed on the Acadia is anyone know? And probably more interesting, has anyone been there? I'd like to know because I don't plan on going there myself. Not on that road anyway ;)

Well, I guess it goes at least 112 MPH. Don't have mine yet, doesn't the speedometer top out at 130 or 140?

Did you mean that the HUD did say "check your gauges" or were you kidding?

Not even kidding, I guess it thought I didn't mean to mash my foot down that hard. Thats exactly what the hud said. I think its 140 on the gauges,I'll have to go look, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that the top speed was governed.

I know I've seen the top speed list somewhere, but can't recall where. And, I do recall that it is governed.

So, somewhere between 112 and 140?

Look at my post on "estimated top speed" on page 3 of the general discussion. It should be limited at 109 according to the car and driver article. The fun post is the one by BAMF later on where he figures that we should be able to hit about 256.
I am glad to see that someone else is wondering if there isn't a little bit of fun that could be tapped into.
Have you thought about getting rid of that too mellow exhaust sound?

OH sure, Car and driver, what do they know? pikers. You guys are gonna make me do it again aren't you?
Only this time I'm going to video it. Here's one I did when I had my vette
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbV5F1n3Bms
It may take a couple days but I'll show you 112.
I'm glad some else likes to have a little fun beating up a 45 thousand dollar car I thought I would only get to discuss the wonders of the DVD player behind the Nav screen
I was thinking the exhaust tone was a bit weak, It sounds kinda cool if your by the back door and hit the remote start. Maybe If I popped a couple holes in the muffler with a screwdriver?

That's Off the hook!!!
You got more balls than me. Anytime I've exceeded 120, I had both hands on the wheel, and wasn't even thinking about taking my eyes off the road long enough to hold a camera......... ;D

Where in NY did you try your Cannonball run?? NY troopers aren't so lenient when it come to speeding, lucky nothing bad happened.

By Black, I assume you mean Carbon Acadia, right?

Welcome aboard and we will start a fund for your speeding tickets ASAP.  ;)

I see you are from Ronkonkoma...are you a Sachem product? My sister is your age and we grew up out there.

I never thought I would see that town name on a forum.

I watched your video. It must be a thrill to drive that fast.

However..... doing it on a public highway, and far exceeding the speed limit is irresponsible and dangerous. You may be ok, but you put the other drivers and pedestrians at risk when you are out to get your thrill. I would not brag about it. I say it was both dumb and illegal. This board should not be condoning illegal actions.

Nobody is condoning illegal actions.  We are also not going to chastise him.

We can't make decisions for him. We can only hope we are no where near him when he decides to do it.

What you state is your personal opinion and you are entitled to it.

Joe's right. You're as much a part of this Board as I am, and neither of us condone street racing. That said, this is also public forum where we are all free to express our opinion and points of view. I have no intentions on censoring anyone here (with the obvious exception of porn, racism, or other truly offensive material). Personally, I keep my excessive speeding on the race track where it belongs. Feel free to debate the topic, but try to keep it civil ;)

If any of you are interested in a change in exhaust tone.

I thought I did keep it civil. I love racing at the tracks. I simply pointed out that what he did was illegal and endangered other people. If I'm wrong in thinking this then perhaps I'm on the wrong board.

I don't think Admin was directing this towards you.

I think he was just stating he won;t censor anything so feel free to discuss. Just pointing out to others who may chime in to keep it civil, don't let it get out of hand.

You are not wrong in thinking or stating it. IT's your opinion and you are free to express it here.

I think you stated it in a civil and direct manner. No harm, no foul.

Absolutely, that wasn't directed at you MrBiz. I was basically waving the flag and saying "let the debate begin! (but keep it civil)." Like I said before, I actually concur with your opinion 100%

That we all have been so civil here is one of the things I like most about this new community of ours. ;D

Shut up!! Who asked you!! JErk!!

Just kidding.

We often comment on how great an atmosphere this is. HOwever, with any forum , you will eventually get your trolls and troublemakers.

We will jump off that bridge when we come to it.
