Head Up Display (HUD) lost 'posted speed limit' display

When I first got my new car….the display showed the speed I was going and also the posted speed limit at the same time on the HUD. 3 months into ownership, I lost the posted speed limit and it only displays the speed I am actually driving. Would anyone know how I could get the posted speed limit back on my HUD?? Thx much

You have to have active GPS for the speed limit display. The vehicle has to know where it is.

Well, here's the scoop on the "heads up display" local speed limit on GM vehicles. After many calls to GM headquarters and to Onstar, I have a solution for you. First of all, the HUD probably will be free for the first month after purchase. Then, only part of the HUD will work. The local speed limit is omitted until you purchase Onstar with data. You can purchase a monthly plan or use your GM rewards. Nevertheless, I let GM know that this should be told before one purchases the vehicle. Also, I have found that the local speed limit has lapses where it will not appear.... One more thing. Most other new vehicles, Ford, Volvo, Hyundai and others come with the local speed limit for free. Google mapping also has the speed limit for free. In conclusion, local dealers, as well as executives at GM, had no clue of this omission on their vehicles.

I paid over $70 k for my 2073 Tahoe Premier. The same happened to me a disappearing HUD speed sign. I emailed GM management and got a reply by phone from an assistant. The assistant says they are unaware of this situation in the HUD display. She will investigate it further.
I told her we should have been told at the time of purchase of any fees associated with the HUD.
I also told her I did not like to blank white boxes on my dash and on my HUD. Hopefully, other will write or call enough to let GM know of this ridiculous charge even though few vehicles have it, thus far.
The local speed limit is free for one month then you have to buy an Onstar data plan to have it shown on the HUD.

I do not believe that to be true.

Back in April, I turned in my leased Buick Envision. I had no OnStar subscription and the speed limit displayed the entire term of my lease.

My previous lease was an '18 Acadia. Again, no OnStar subscription and the speed limit always displayed.

I believe the speed limit is tied to the factory navigation software. I say this because there were several routes I travelled where the speed limits had changed but the displayed speed limit reflected the old limit. It wasn't until I updated the map software that the correct speed limit started to display.

I won't know if this is the case with my leased '23 as the vehicle came with 3 years of OnStar.
There are 4 HUD views. You rotate those by pressing the info button next to your left knee. Only one of those views displays the speed limit.

Did you accidentally press the info button?
I know about that button. I have gone through all four screens. None of them have the posted speed limit as well as how fast I'm going. I had that before. Now, all I have is how fast I'm going. Any ideas?

Have you confirmed the the "display speed limit" box is checked in info setup?
