Head Up Display (HUD) lost 'posted speed limit' display

When I first got my new car….the display showed the speed I was going and also the posted speed limit at the same time on the HUD. 3 months into ownership, I lost the posted speed limit and it only displays the speed I am actually driving. Would anyone know how I could get the posted speed limit back on my HUD?? Thx much

Welcome to the forum.
Read about the head up display (HUD) options in your owners manual. The HUD has multiple viewing modes. Press the "INFO" button through the view 'menu' to see if the 'posted speed limit' readout returns.

+1, I believe the display of the speed limit sign on the HUD is a user controlled option.

It could be tied to the 'posted speed' display on the instrument panel. If that's turned off, then it stands to reason it would be off in the HUD, too.

Thx. I’ve checked and rechecked the owners manual. Even went back to the dealership today. Service department gave me to a sales guy…he couldn’t figure it out either. 😞. Appreciate your effort tho’

Hmmmm. Not familiar with posted speed display on instrument panel. If mine has been turned off….where do I look to turn it back on??

That wasn't real bright of the service department! My salesman couldn't tell me where the battery was on my Acadia. LOL

It should be a menu item in one of the DIC pages. Look under 'vehicle personalization' in the owners manual to find out how to access them with the steering wheel controls. NAV settings might be another place to look.

This video shows how to turn the speed limit sign on in a new Chevy. Acadia should be very similar to it.
Is your "DIC" in Touring or Sport display? Because it will show differently from each mode.

In "Touring" it will show on the top left corner of the "DIC"

In "Sport" it will be in the center of the "DIC".

And for "HUD", it will show in the "Speed View" mode.

Read this section that's in the Owners Manual:

Instruments and Controls 117 - 119

It starts from here: 117-119

Driver Information Center (DIC)
(Midlevel and Uplevel)

And

Instruments and Controls 121

HUD Views

Good find! (y) I located the same thing on page 98 of the 2021 Acadia owners manual online version almost the same time as you posted your reply.

The speed limit sign can be found in the DIC menu and needs to be enabled there. Once it is enabled it will be available as you scroll through the different screens. Note that the speed sign will only show up in the HUD if it is actually showing in the main instrument cluster. Also, I've found that the speed limit will usually only show on main roads.
situation happily and finally resolved. Went for an oil change and the same AM I got a message on the dashboard. “SD Card Error”. I told the gentleman in the service area, but he didn’t feel concerned. Finally, I made an appointment with the salesperson I purchased the car with. He and another salesperson spent quite a bit of time on it….he re-inserted the SD card and then it worked again. Thanks for your tips and suggestions everyone. Happy to have the posted speed limit back on my display
Well, here's the answer. You have to PAY to have it turned on. I took my 2023 Tahoe Premier to the dealer and they could not figure it out so they kept it for a day. Finally, the dealers tech guy said that the display show on the dash and the HUD but after a short time turned off and you have to purchase a package (bundle) to have it turned on. I have emaile everyone a Chevy in Detroit and the finally called back today saying they will look in to it. Apparently, the execs in Detroit knew nothing about it. And yes, this comes on the most expensive vehicles.

That's crazy. Just like having to pay $15 monthly for an app to use remote start from a distance. I refuse to do it when other manufacturers offer it for free. Nickle and diming customers who paid over 50K for a vehicle is just plain wrong, and GMC should put an end to the practice.

I paid over $70 k for my 2073 Tahoe Premier. The same happened to me a disappearing HUD speed sign. I emailed GM management and got a reply by phone from an assistant. The assistant says they are unaware of this situation in the HUD display. She will investigate it further.
I told her we should have been told at the time of purchase of any fees associated with the HUD.
I also told her I did not like to blank white boxes on my dash and on my HUD. Hopefully, other will write or call enough to let GM know of this ridiculous charge even though few vehicles have it, thus far.

I am having the same problem. Speed limit is not being displayed in my HUD. It has always been there since I bought the car. Please help to let me know how to get it to return. Thank you!

There are 4 HUD views. You rotate those by pressing the info button next to your left knee. Only one of those views displays the speed limit.

Did you accidentally press the info button?
