I just posted this in response to a question about April 09 incentives, and the overall plan is a great move (though not likely to pull GM out of a pending bankruptcy action).

One of the items in the program that is touted is a 5yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Isn't this just the standard warranty (3yrs of bumper to bumper)? Or is the added assurance the "roadside assistance and courtesy transportation".

This Total Confidence plan is not completely new. The only new parts are vehicle value and payment protection plan. The rest is standard GM fare. Since it's free I guess they can get away with it. It's sort of like advertising a car and touting features such as brakes as part of the standard safety equipment.
