I am wondering if there is a way to find out how many vehicles of a certain year are painted a certain color i.e. how many Red Jewels were made in 08 etc?

That would be kind of neat to find out. When I had my '04 GTO, mine was 1 of 512 that was Pulse Red with a 6-speed manual. I'm sure the production numbers are out there somewhere. We just need someone to be able to find them.

So how did you know this or was there an interior badge?

If you call GM I'm sure they can provide the info for you. It is a matter of speaking to the right person. I was rather surprised when via the Corvair Club I learned they made a thing called Past Model Information. They sent me all sorts of stuff about the Corvair well after a decade past production ending. I was able to get production data for my 1991 Dodge Daytona down to a build sheet from Chrysler customer service by sending an email. Cars with followings like the GTO, Camaro, Corvette, etc. inevitably have someone that obtains info such as this from the manufacturer.

Sounds like jsimms is our round peg for this round hole.

There was someone one the ls1gto board that tracked down the numbers and posted them (maybe from the link you posted  :thumb: ).  We also found out one other neat tidbit.  The Pulse Red GTOs were all 2004 models and were associated with an RPO code of W40 that was officially listed as "Special Edition" and also had some interior trim colors that weren't on the other GTOs.  Well, this Special Edition was originally to have been a 40th Anniversary Edition.  There were even 40th Anniversary stickers on the bottom sides of the seat cushions and behind the gauge cluster.  However, GM chickened out when GTO luddites had a hissy fit about a rebadged Holden Monaro being called a GTO, much less a 40th Anniversary GTO.

Here's the plate I had on it:

Here's the car:

jsimms - you might also be able to check with one of the PR contacts listed here:

http://media.gm.com/us/gmc/en/product_services/r_cars/r_c_acadia/09index.html

Marketing/PR folks *love* talking about their goods!
I wish I could help you out, but that information is not readily available.

Best regards,

Not sure what that means; I'm thinking "I don't want to track down info that I don't have right in front of me"

How totally absurd. You're definitely right about the translation. GM continues to impress with the customer commitment. Guaranteed a few hundred people have access to a database that contains production information. Or maybe they just have a roulette wheel with the color swatches - the body department just spins the wheel and voila, there's the color choice.

I have a few more "feelers" out there; so we'll see what happens. I was hoping tmundal might know a guy that knows a guy that has a brother in law that works at Lansing :D

I just need an "in" with someone that can get me some info; if all else fails maybe it will be time for a pilgrimage run to Michigan

OK jsimms,

If you can get this info on the 07s, then it's your duty to track it down for the 08s and future production years as well. ;D

Well just got a message from Gwen; they don't have the breakdown numbers for color vs trim level ??? That means she doesn't have the info; that has got to be somewhere.

It almost to me sounds like they arbitrarily painted vehicles without knowing how many of each color were done? Not likely; just need to find the right person who has the knowledge.

Don't these people know who you are? ;D

Maybe if you PM member Don Willems (works at the Lansing plant- he hasn't been here in a while that I've seen) he may have a contact for that information.

Jason:

I'm sorry, but to get that information would require us to assign an
individual to research that. As I'm sure you can understand we have all our
employees focused on the most urgent needs of the business at this time.

Best regards,

Jim
