Finally after about 2 weeks (I stopped looking for a deal after I did not know the deal had been extended a week), sat down yesterday with local GMC dealer, basically was a waste of time, tried to get me to buy a $43K sticker unit, wrong colors or a stripper, which was all they had left. Finally they and I gave up.
Had been working a web search off the GM locators but just not much in stock (seemed to be a delay in removing sold stock units from the sites). Figured I would make one more try last night, sent out bunch of emails since most of this deal is off on the 28th-if I could not make one would wait or custom order and take my chances. Anyway, finally got a dealer about 20 miles away to find one and get an agreement to swap one that had the equipment I wanted (roof, SLT2, Trailer) in a compromise color (carbon) with titanium interior. Carbon looks great but the sun is brutal here on the Gulf Coast.
Anyway, MSRP was $37,980, including transfer fee from another dealer price was $36,030 (Edmunds says Invoice is $35,363), minus $1000 Conquest and $500 Bonus cash and $2100 Master Card, and 0% financing for 3 years. I am pleased to be able to still drive an American vehicle! ;D

If gas prices keep creeping back up (currently about $2.49/gal in my location), and as more Acadia's are produced, I think you might see more aggressive pricing than what is happening now. As in your case, you had a stingy dealership not really wanting to deal on their last Acadia. However, as you found out, emailing a few dealerships in a 20 mile radius, you were able to get a pretty good deal.

So no, I do not believe these "big" deals are coming to an end. I believe the Acadia is a bit overpriced...and without those incentives, I believe will have a hard time selling. Also, the Acadia is also dealing with the issue of it being a GM automobile...so they have a hard time winning over all those Toyohonda buyers.

I agree. I think the incentives are only going to increase as inventory eventually builds to normal levels. I think there will be some great deals in the fall/winter after they start building the '08s.

Good to hear many dealers have cleaned out their inventories, if only temporarily.

It might be harder to get a deal now, but if the Acadia sells well it'll hold more of its value when you trade it.

Is there a place where I could find out what the production schedule is for the Acadia? In other words, how many units do they plan on producing in the coming months, when will they be up to "normal" levels, and what are those levels? If I read between the lines, I'm thinking that as I'm not in a huge hurry to buy, it's going to be better the longer I wait. Give it another month, maybe, and I'll be looking at possibly more motivated dealers and better incentives. Am I off-base?
