I'm trying to narrow down where my Loss of TCM communications is coming from on my 2007 and could use a little help.

If you pop your hood open and turn the key to the 'ON' position, does your TCM make noise? Humming/electrical?

Why am I asking? Mine is and I'm trying to determine if the TCM has a problem or I have a wiring issue since my car got hit. Acts like could be a wiring problem, but I've went through almost every connector known to man and not found anything that would cause my TCM loss of communication and other issues.

I noticed that mine is making a pretty good noise with the key on and I want to see if that is normal or not. I'm halfway suspecting that maybe when the car was hit it cracked the board or a solder joint came loose....

I'd prefer not to drop $450+ on another control module to find out, though.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping to get a 07/08 owner as the TCM is in the transmission and that appears to be the area that is making the noise on my car.

Noise is significantly louder the last couple days and you can actually hear it over the running engine. Definitely not normal.

Awesome. :sosad:

#1 Turn key on, but don't start the car
#2 Open Hood
#3 Look down at the front of the transmission where the connector/harness connects.

Is THAT where your high pitched noise is?

I'm concerned that module is going bad in my car based on the noise I'm hearing there and I'm trying to confirm if that is indeed a problem or not. If "everyone's" car has a high pitched noise there, probably not an issue. If I'm the only one .......

Thanks!

High pitched noise is coming from the module that is mounted to the front of the engine bay. No noises coming from the transmission anywhere.

Hope this helps.

Transmission Noise

The owner of a 2007 GMC Acadia or 2007 Saturn Outlook may hear a high pitched buzz or whine noise after the engine is shut off. This buzz or whine noise is coming from the solenoids in the transmission. These solenoids will stay active during the TCM shut down, which will last about ten seconds.

DO NOT make any attempts to repair this concern. This is a normal characteristic of this vehicle.

I just had the same problem with my 2007 Saturn Outlook I did go through and buy the new TCM Module and installed it and it is still making the whining noise so don't waste your money
