Has anyone had any success with attaching an aftermarket to the Acadia?

I'm ready to buy, but I need to be able to carry two canoes and if I can't use an aftermarket rack, then its no go. Yakima and Thule haven't done any testing yet, so they are no help.

For a canoe (or two) do you really need a rack at all? I thought about this when I saw the $190 pricetag the dealer quoted on the factory rack. (It's $45 for the Yukon, so why so much for the Acadia?). If I had to do it, I would just get a couple 2x2's, cut them a little longer than the width of the two canoes and put them across the rack. You can still use the side rails for tie downs and run a rope to the front and back, which you would probably do with an aftermarket rack anyway. Back in the 80's, I drove thousands of miles with a canoe on the roof supported by wood cross bars, the weight is not a problem. (My kids call me cheap- I prefer thrifty- for me a $5 solution is much better than the $200 one).
