tell us more about the Infinity install.....did the front 6.5" fit right into door housing?

why did you go with the the 6020 in front and 6022i in back? For the tweeter?

Does the front doors have enough room for the deeper speaker or will I need the shallow one?

Thinking of 6022 in both front and rear......and opinions ?

Thanks

The 6 1/2 fit the front and back, only need to drill holes for the new speaker brackets, need the shallow speakers, window is close.

I was going to replace the pillar tweeter, but decided against it,

I wish I had gone with the 6020 in the rear too, thinking about adding a tweeter and crossover to the 6022.

You're going to like the 6020's, they're great, the 6022 are not bad (need alittle bit more highs).

Thanks for info.........so the "new tweeter" was mounted inside the door panel.... and you can still hear it?

So your saying shallow speakers in front and and rear ? In your 1st post you have the 6022i (deep) part# for the rear, is that correct?

I don't see a shallow speaker part # for the 6020 ....straighten this ole man out......

what would another set of 6020 do to the ohms on the system ...you tech guys?

Thanks

The tweeter sounds great, these speaker are not as deep as some on the market, they fit find. The original speakers were 4 ohms. With the crossovers, I believe the 6020's are 2.7 ohms

So are you getting sound out of the factory tweeter still as well as the Infinity tweeter? Was there enough space in the door to mount the crossovers as well or did you install them somewhere else?

Yes, the factory tweeters still work.

The crossovers, I drilled 2 holes and mounted them behind the metal door frame below the speaker hole.

Thanks for the fast response. You've peaked my interest more now that I know the factory tweeter works yet...

Is there a requirement for the crossover to be within a certain distance from the speaker that demands they be in the door?

No mounting the crossovers in the door just made it easier to wire the crossovers to the new Infinity's in the doors.

I did not change any of the wiring to the originial tweeters in the window pillars, they sound good with the new setup.

Seems simple..... ???

I've never hooked up a crossover. Do you connect the wires from the 6.5 to it , then hookup the 2 speakers (6.5 & tweeter) to it ?

you put shallow speakers in the rear doors ......still not sure from info and i'm ready to order.

Do you think any of their kappa series 6.5 would fit in the hole?

Thanks

6020 are connected to the crossover in the door, the speaker come with a wiring diagram on how to wire up the speakers.

I don't know if the Kappa series will fit.

im about to install a full adui sysytem in my 08 SLE. I ll keep everyone posted on how it's going I m planning to install the Dynaudio 3-way esotec system in the front and a custom box in back with more goodies to follow

does anyone know if the factory wiring on the low end six speaker unit has a crossover for the tweeter/ front door circuit.....or does head unit produce high low seperations?

I'm going with polk audio 651, 651s, 2way, to replace all my door spkrs. Was going withthe Infinity components but saw that the PA had a sale going on, 2nd pair half price,......sooooo $150 invested.
Sould get alot cleaner/crisper sound and alittle bass goes along way nowadays. I'll post info on install.....hopefully this weekend. Crutchfield said they would fit we'll see. :banghead: :tunes:

wasn't there some pics of an acadia with the tweeters being changed out and the pillars were exposed? How big a hammer ya need to get them out?

I just finished replacing the door speakers. The two front doors, Infinity 6020cs (component system, 6 1/2" mains, 1" Tweeters, Crossover boxes) installed mains and tweeters behind door panels (no cutting just drilled holes to mount) left the factory Tweeters in the window pillar (airbag in the way). The two rear doors, Infinity 6022i (standard 2-way). The factory head unit is a standard single disc player, The sound quality that I'm getting out these speakers is phenomenol. The factory unit has no problem driving these speakers. My Wife can not believe the difference it has made, the highs, mids and lows are crystal clear. The factory speakers that were on our Acadia were the cheapest speakers I think GM could buy (old paper type) if they paid $5.00 a piece that was to much.
Our Acadia is now 8 months old, I should have done this 8 months ago. Total cost of project $342.00, 4 hours of not so hard work.
I just purchased a set of the Infinity Kappa 60.9cs (components) for the front and a set of Infinity Reference 6032cf for the rear. My wife has had enough of the poor sounding system our '08 Acadia came with. I was wondering if the stock receiver would be enough to power them, now I know :) . I was also going to have them installed by our local sound shop (Al and Ed's) but now I'm thinking I should just save the $200.00 and do it myself. I was (still am) a bit nervous about installing the tweeters in in pillars because of the airbag so I might not replace them. I can't wait to be able to listen to some clean crisp sounds....Aside from the poor sound system, we love our Acadia :thumb: !

Sorry to have resurrected this old thread ;)

So I'm guessing you do not have the Bose speakers?

You would be guessing correct. All of the audio places we went to told us we are better off Not having the Bose system ???
Of course they said that; if you did then you wouldn't be in their shop looking for an upgrade. I think the Bose have excellent sound

:D true, we just didn't spring for the Bose system and now have to upgrade the sounds. Stock sound is very bland not crisp highs and definitely no tight mid base. We hope to cure all that with the new speakers. We are slowly going to build up (redo) the audio system as $ allows. For now it's just the speakers, next will be the head unit then the addition of a 4ch amp and possibly one 10" sub. Then eventually move on to video accessories.

When you can; list your Acadia specifics in your signature line so we all know what you are driving.

I wish you luck with your audio/video upgrades and keep us all informed as you go; thanks :thumb:

I know this is an old topic but I am a new member and I have seen this problem on numerous posts.

One thing is VERY important....

Anytime... ANYTIME... you install/repair/mod ANYTHING electrical in a vehicle, the first thing you should do is disconnect the battery ground. This is ESPECIALLY true when working near an airbag.

I am amazed at the number of posts I see for electronic and audio mods/repairs where this is not done.

That's a really electrifying first forum post, DaleCarter!! ;D ;D
