Acadia door lock reprogramming

15484 Views 14 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Hitulseo
I have read through all the threads I can find on this subject. I started looking back in '08 and reading all the thread I could find. I started again today with no new answers. I can only find the old threads that I have read last year. I am hoping that maybe someone knows something new and just has not posted it.

I have an '08 SLE without the DIC button. I cannot add the DIC button either (read all those threads too). My wife HATES that the door locks automatically unlock when shifted into park. There was a TSB for the '07s, but I tried that with my Dealer. The Dealer stated that the software mentioned in the '07 TSB only works for the '07 models. So I am out of luck with that approach.

I am I checking in again to see if anyone knows anything new regarding the reprogramming of the door lock feature without the DIC feature.

Thank you for your help ahead of time.

Re: SLE door locks reprograming

I've read through the 2008 owner's manual and I don't see any way to do this without the DIC function. I suspect this may be why there is no info here on doing it.
Re: SLE door locks reprograming

It amazes me to think that GM wouldn't leave the older programming functionality available to those without the DIC. :banghead: I remember that I could change a few things on the keyless entry of both my 1999 Buick Regal and my 1991 Lumina APV.
Re: SLE door locks reprograming

Yeah, I recall my '03 Impala using the radio display to set this function among other things like the oil life.

Absolutely the case - I had a 1990 Grand Prix as well as a 97 that was capable of reporgramming that. Perhaps there's a way in the Acadia without the DIC.
Re: SLE door locks reprograming

Perhaps remnant programming functions the engineers forgot to eliminate!!
Re: SLE door locks reprograming

Iam in the same boat as the original poster, except that my new (only had for 7 days) 09 is a saturn outlook XE. Same as your SLE. Before I left the dealership, I had the service department hook up my XE to their computer, hoping that they could disabe the auto locking and unlocking function. They spent a good 20-30 minutes and came back to me and said "it can't be done". It was almost a deal killer for me. I really hate the auto door locking function.

My next step will be to have my dealer contact GM. Hopefully we can get a patch for ours like the 07's did.

Only other thing about mine that I didn't like was that the trip computer doesn't calculate MPG. That was another big dislike, but I didn't want to have leather seats in order to get the better DIC. So I will add a scanguage-2 so solve this issue. Plus the scanguage-2 does more than the factory upgraded DIC.

Re: SLE door locks reprograming...Maybe the 06 Saturn VUE Procedure May Help

For What Its Worth,

I experienced the exact same concern on my 06 SATURN VUE. I am going to post this right from the Saturn VUE Getting to Know Your 2006 VUE. I know it is a long shot but, who knows, it may work for you. Here goes.

QUOTE
Programmable Automatic Door Unlocking

You can activate and deactivate the unlocking feature by turning the ignition key to Run (with engine off) an pressing the Unlock portion of the power door lock switch for eight seconds.

If the horn chirps once after pressing the power door lock switch, the automatic door unlocking feature will operate. If the horn chirps twice after pressing the switch, the unlocking feature will not operate.

When this feature is activated, all doors will unlock when the key is removed from the ignition.
END OF QUOTE

Again, I know this is a long shot and probably one that the service department may have tried but it certainly is worth a try by you, the owner.

Good luck!

Oh, and I dont own one of these Acadias....yet.

Great forum.

Regards,

Jim

Jim, I just tried it and no luck, but thanks for the info.
Is there a way to get the doors to not Auto Lock?

Has anyone figured out a way so that the doors don't auto lock? I know it's selectable at speed or when put in gear but I don't want either of these. I want it to stay unlocked unless I hit the lock button. There has to be a way to disable this annoying feature.

I've been driving a Buick LaCrosse as a rental car the last 9 days of a business trip, it has the same **** feature and I hate it. Yes I know it will unlock when I go to park if I program it to do so.

Yep! ::)
I read the 2009 owner's manual page 3-69, and there does not appear to be any way to do so other than what you have mentioned. I've merged your post with a similar recent one regarding the power lock programming.

I did read through the merged post but it didn't answer my question as it was talking about DIC features. DIC doesn't allow for the locking feature to be disabled unless someone has figured out a way to fool it.
To reprogram the door lock on an Acadia, you can follow these general steps:
  1. Sit inside the vehicle and close all doors.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine.
  3. Press and hold the "Unlock" button on the driver's door panel.
  4. While holding the "Unlock" button, insert the key into the door lock and cycle it between "Lock" and "Unlock" positions three times.
  5. Release the "Unlock" button on the door panel.
  6. Within five seconds, press and hold both the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the door panel simultaneously.
  7. After about ten seconds, you should hear a chime, indicating that the programming mode has been entered.
  8. While still holding the buttons, press and release the "Lock" button on the door panel.
  9. Release all buttons.
  10. Test the door lock operation by pressing the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons on the key fob or using the power door lock switches inside the vehicle.
Please note that the steps provided are a general guideline and may vary depending on the specific model year and trim level of your Acadia. It's always a good idea to consult your vehicle's owner's manual for the accurate procedure for your particular model. If you're unsure or encounter any issues, it's recommended to contact a GMC dealership or a qualified automotive locksmith for assistance.
