Hi. I have a 2017 GMC Acadia and I was told by GMC that my key fob antenna needs to be replaced for over $700. I see the part online for 25 bucks but cannot find directions on how to replace it or anything like that. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance
Did they say the antenna needs replacing or the receiver?
The keyless remote transceiver might be on the rear bumper area underside.
Not sure if that would help.
You would have to remove the rear bumper fascia and replace the transceiver. I think the whole thing comes pop riveted onto that rear assembly.
The report from the GMC dealer says the antenna needs to be replaced.
I’m not sure that I believe it. The key fobs work great. I can do everything with my key fobs except starting the car. I have to put the key in the slot in order for it to turn on. Even with the key in the slot it tells me that it’s not found. But the key fobs both work without a problem. All operational and reprogrammed them numerous times.
