Hi-

I know there are a lot of posts about key fob programming. Here's another one.

I just got a 15 SLT with one fob. I picked up another two off ebay, and I was going through the steps listed to program through the DIC. The problem is that I don't get the "learn" remote" option when scrolling through the DIC that works for other models. So apparently this won't work on my model, and it has to be done by a pro, right?

Advance and AZ have a Dorman fob and programming module for $100. The module plugs into the connector below the wheel. Has anyone used this product? Does it work? I'm guessing its probably cheaper than paying a dealer to program, and I'll have the module for the future.

Thanks!

Hello Again Everybody:

I posted the question above last week. I didn't get any responses, so I went ahead and purchased the aftermarket Dorman programmer kit. Now I want to report how it went. IT WORKS!

Here is the product: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/mtrmt/11161768-P

In short, all my other vehicles have an easy self-program method for mating a fob with the car. So, as usual I ordered a couple of new fobs off eBay. Then I learned my 2015 Acadia is not as easy to program. My friendly dealer wanted $180 for a fob, plus $70 to program. Not going to happen.

I looked around and found the Dorman kit at Advance. The kit comes with a programming module and a new fob. The module plugs into the port under the dash, and then you push a couple of buttons on any fob, and they mate to the car. Total time to mate four fobs was about a minute. As you probably know, reprogramming wipes out any fobs that were already mated to the car, so even ones that work have to be reset using this tool.

Anyway, my total out the door cost with discounts for three new fobs and the module was under $110...and I have the module available for future use if I ever need more from eBay. Now YMMV of course, but it worked fine for me.
