Update : Local mechanic believes that this is related to a interior fuse box (behind glove box) getting wet. Today is a sunny day and no issues so far. We did have alot of rain in NJ in the last few days. A quick Google search and weird electrical issues due to fuse box getting wet is common. Hoping that's all it is.

 

Update : After working with a local mechanic, the issue ties to a failing Transmission control module. What I didn't notice before was when the car started acting up, the indicator located on the dash P R N D L was rapidly jumping between P and D. The TCM is located at the top of the transmission which ultimately requires a transmission rebuild. So the car is now traded in. Thanks all for your comments!!

 

I don’t think that is your problem but hope it is. So many of these have had trans failures that start out like this . Report this to NHTSA as otherwise this plague will never get dealt with by GM.

It turned out to be a failing Transmission Control Module for me. Which was going to require a transmission rebuild. I got rid of the vehicle.

To confirm this when the car is being weird, look at the dash where is says P R N D L Mine was jumping between P and D

 

A failing transmission control module does not require a transmission rebuild, just the a repair or replacement of the module.

 

Mine did that exact same thing and we had to replace the ECM. Couple yrs later, we had some issues and it died after some weird electrical stuff...**** ECM again! We have had this vehicle for 10 yrs, it's got about 97,000 miles on it, and have had to replace the computer TWICE?!? Now we are having issues w the engine codes reading certain things on a code reader, but has been replaced (p0017, p0016) can it be the ECM AGAIN??

 

P0016 and P0017 almost always point to failing timing chains.

 

As far as the doors locking and unlocking, I would have suspected water infiltration on the dash Fuse block, and not so much an ECM or a BCM issue they are usually bombproof and only do what the inputs are telling them to do.
Traction control issue, I saw the RPMs going up and down, the traction control messages are software generated but could also be a input from the console switch, possibly water infiltration again. If someone has similar issues, turn the traction control switch off and leave it off, see what your RPMs are.
