I realize this timing chain issue has probably already been discussed. But here's my situation and question.

I bought a 2009 Saturn Outlook, same as the Acadia, used from a GMC dealer in spring 2018 with less than 120,000 miles.

The Outlook has developed the timing chain issue.

Wouldn't the dealer be responsible fo correct this recall issue BEFORE selling this used GMC on their lot?
This issue has been known for many years now, and this is a large GMC dealer in Metro Detroit.

Please advise.
Thanks

It's not a recall. GM merely extended the warranty. If the Outlook didn't display symptoms at the time, there would be no reason to do the work on it.

The timing chain warranty extension was for 10 years or 120k miles. If you are indeed under 120k miles, what was the original in service date of your vehicle? You may still be eligible to have the chains replaced under that warranty......the exception may be if the chains have already been replaced under the extended warranty in the past.
