I have a 21 Acadia Denali. I had some minor crash damage to the lift gate, and the liftgate had to be replaced. Before and after the damage (before the lift gate change), the door operated without any delay when either the remote, or the door button at the rear, or the button on the driver's door was used. All the interior hardware was switched over to the new door. Now, there is a five second delay before the lift gate will start to open after any of the buttons are depressed. I have looked in the owner's manual and the touch screen, and cannot find anything that relates to this. Anyone have any idea of how to get rid of this five second delay? Thanks.

Seems it would be something to ask the body shop. I'd handle a situation like that through the insurance company. They're obligated to make sure your vehicle is repaired correctly.
I would think something in the repair process was compromised. So have them check it over since both the vehicle and repair work should still be warrantied.
Thank you for the replies. I am taking it in Monday. I was hoping that someone might know how this could be selected in the software. All the interior components of the old door were transferred to the new door. I don't see how this five second delay in opening the door could suddenly appear.
Does it have the handsfree option? That has a built in 2 second delay. Perhaps undiscovered crash damage or some wires crossed during the repair.
Thanks to divotdug, I found that the "hands free" feature is not working either. The light shines the logo on the ground, but moving my foot under the light does not open the door. It may be that a couple of connections were crossed when transferring the internal components from the old liftgate to the new.
Bodark: was a solution ever determined? This is near identical to my wife's 2021 Acadia with damaged tailgate replacement. Tailgate opened right away even with the minor damage and now has 5 second delay with new gate and transferred components. Only difference is the hands free feature works with its expected 2 second delay. Body shop took to local GM dealer and they said the 5 second delay was normal. Rubbish. Any more info on your solution is appreciated.
Thanks for the info. My wife's Acadia lift gate opens immediately the first 'open' of the day using the key FOB. After that it's a 5 second wait using any of the door switch, lift gate switch or FOB. I learned there is a control module for the gate itself that talks to the body computer and it can issue DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes) which can be read by a scan tool. A GM dealer is going to look at this in 2 weeks. I wonder if the software has a built in learning mode that, like your situation, over time, relearns it's OK to open the gate right away. Glad to hear your gate is working OK.
Thanks to my dog's day at the beach she left oodles of sand in the back of the vehicle, including several grains around the u-shaped hook the lift gate latches to. The bodyshop noticed many light scratches on the plastic trim around the lift gate latch mechanism where the latch and the hook meet. They adjusted the lift gate ever so lightly higher and the problem was solved. It opens right away every time. I'm guessing the delay was caused by the lift gate sensing extra pressure on it prior to opening (like someone leaning on it) and then flashing the lights to indicate it was about to open and waiting 5 seconds to open.
