Hoping you can help out on this situation. I have read several posts about the potential problem and recently went to a Stereo Company to perform diagnose the problem. The OnStar, radio and turn signals were silent. Although after reading the various posts, and discussing the situation with the Stereo Company, they proceeded to say it was the radio only that was causing the problem and I assumed they knew what they were talking about & even though I was a little uneasy proceeded with the radio change out. 3/4 of the way thru they say there is an amplifier problem, but "they will handle it"! None of this was explained to me at the time and not until later that day when I noticed the turn signals and OnStar no working did I get a call from the installer saying the AMP was BAD and has to be replaced. He said they rewired the system so they can make the radio work. Yikes!!


I told them I'm taking the car to the Dealership since I need some maintenance anyway, and will be in touch. Today after the Dealership calls me and says I need fuel injection service and a new relay( $600 +), I authorize that service & they say they will begin looking at the audio system.. Right afterwards the Stereo Installer calls me and says he "Ordered" a AMP without my knowledge and that my original AMP is in his shop and NOT IN THE CAR!!!
I have left a message and hope to hear back from the Dealership on the condition of the radio which I asked them to bench test.


I made a big mistake taking this to the Stereo Shop since their obvious goal was to sell me a new stereo, and NOT solve the problem in the least affordable manner. Hoping that since the AMP is available online at a significant savings and that the original AMP has already been removed, that GMC could help on the costs to reinstall.


Also, if the radio proves okay which it should since I hear it play before they removed it, I will have it reinstalled in the car and return the stereo they sold me for some type of refund. I am also contacting the BBB ands well as others to address the smoking mirrors approach to solving my audio problem.

@Bickman50, this is not the place to hang your laundry. Contact GMC Customer Service via private message. It's almost guaranteed you won't get a response from GMC here. Why are you bothering them with an out of warranty problem and an issue between you and an outside vendor anyway? :shrug: Do you REALLY expect GMC to help you get your car put together? :hilarious:
