Might be purchasing a 2016 Acadia...

Hello All.
We will be looking at a 2016 Acadia soon... I know '16 was the last year before the redesigned "smaller" Acadia and this is actually why we are looking at it. We have friends who had a '16, had some trouble with it and traded for a new '18. They like both but were glad to be rid of the '16 because of the trouble. Can't remember specifics but they went for another one so I am thinking it couldn't have been too bad... I know this is very general but what should I look for and what are your thoughts and feelings please? We have an '06 Pilot and love it as I believe that was the best year for the Pilot. I thank you in advance...

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Rich

to the forum.

One thing to look for is the GM service history (GMVIS) report on the car. It will show what warranty problems the previous owner had as well as a record of any scheduled maintenance done by a GM dealer. All that's needed is the VIN. The GMVIS can be researched by any GM dealer, or on the myGMC website. It adds a more comprehensive look at the car's history than just a CarFax report.

Good luck with your decision. Come back and let us know if you purchased the Acadia.

We bought a new 14' and the only thing was A/C around 45,000. They put dye in the line, recharged the system, no leaks. Went back one week later and 2 weeks later and no leaks. A/C has been fine through 2 seasons. Cost was $144.00. Oil changes and other filters are done at the dealer at normal intervals. I have a very trusting service department at our local dealer ship.

My comment might be, to buy a used GM car from a GM dealership. Long story short. IMO. Good Luck.

I believe you’re mistaken. The 2017 is the last full size ACADIA. I know, because I bought a new 2017 with the Denali package, but it is not branded as a Denali. There were no 2017 Acadia Denalis...it’s branded as a Limited. I wanted the HUD, heated steering wheel, heated and cooled seats, full sunroof, etc. and got all that and more. This is my third Acadia....my new 2009 was an SLT, my new 2011 was a Denali. I love the car. I’ve had excellent service from all three, but I will say, I have had them serviced regularly at my GMC dealer. Regular maintenance is vital to the level of performance to be obtained from any machine. Good luck. Frank

@Frank Bice, GMC did put out a reduced-size (redesigned) Acadia Denali in 2017. Many members of this forum own one. Your 2017 Acadia Limited is equipped more like the previous year's SLT-2 (basically a Denali without the lipstick. )
