High Pitch Whistle From Engine

Has anyone else noticed a high pitched whistle coming from the engine compartment? It only starts at mid range RPMs and gets louder until it shifts. I think I've narrowed it down to the throttle body since I can alter the intensity with the gas pedal/rpms. I was getting oil in the intake and cleaned the throttle body last night, it seems to have a lower tone now. It may need more cleaning. Just curious to see if anyone else has heard this.

It's definitely not brakes or bearings. There was a thread from last year https://www.acadiaforum.net/index.php?topic=26650.20 that discussed a noise, everyone was thinking brakes but the symptoms sound similar to mine.

Make sure the air cleaner box is seated properly, the throttle body is properly attached, and there are no vacuum leaks at the intake manifold.

Just an update in case anyone has a similar sound. I took the throttle body off and thoroughly cleaned it and the whistle is gone. The oil being fed into the intake was caking and must have been causing it to whistle. The sound reminded me of my Silverado when it had one of those spiral throttle body spacers.

Sounds like normal turbo spool to me. I also hear a little bit of gear whine. It all sounds perfectly normal to me.

The beginning is the most important part of the work.

Wow, I have the exact same thing. When I first bought the car, my dad heard it and asked if it had a turbo in it!

Anyway, it hasn't been annoying me enough to do something about it. I cleaned the throttle body as well (when I did the spark plugs and timing chain cover re-seal) and it's still there.

I personally like the sound so oh well!

Re: High Pitch Whistle From Engine

I have noticed that mine hasn't gone away completely. It used to happen all the time and it was loud, now I only hear it when I really get on it. I had a pretty good buildup of oil on the edge of the butterfly.

I'm getting a noise sounding like a freight train from the engine compartment.
Mine is a new 2019 with less than 1000 miles on the odometer.
It's more of a freight train noise rather than a high pitch whine.
Noise comes and goes but recently it's been more persistent and louder.
Thanking you all in advance.
