Anyone see the Buick Enclave Fatality on "Highway Thru Hell"

Last nights airing of "Highway Thru Hell" showed a Buick Enclave take a head-on hit from a transport truck with two trailers. The Buick did really really well in that collision. The driver survived and was airlifted to hospital, but the passenger died at the scene. It appeared the passenger died from a rear projectile hitting the back of the head.

The police removed the event data recorder and determined that both people had seat belts on, and that the brakes were applied for a couple of seconds before impact. The event data recorder was located in between the driver and passenger seat, looks like it sits right beside our junk cubby.

Didn't see the show, but they are accurate with the location of the black box. This story takes me back a few years. A member posted they went head on with another vehicle. He and his pregnant wife (passenger) walked away with no harm to the baby. These things are built to withstand some horrible impacts; if they could just get the transmissions and other nagging issues fixed they might earn back their professional grade status with some people.

My wife rolled our first Acadia after a head-on offset collision with a hydro pole. She broke wheels off, tore the transmission almost completely out, curtain and side airbags deployed....

She walked away with a scratch (from climbing out a broken window to escape)

Horrible events, all of them. Ones that I hope I never ever have to experience...

.. but also a reason we bought an Enclave to replace the Acadia. Issues aside, these are SAFE vehicles... safer than danged near anything else on the road.

We thought the 2008 was safe, then it proved itself. We immediately replaced the write-off with a 2010, then again with a 2012.
