Hi everyone, I have a early 2010 AWD model, 25,050 miles. About every other day, my traction control turns off unexpectedly, and the dash switch to override the traction control does not turn it on. After about a minute of driving when it turns off, i get a engine reduced power on my info message center on dash. The only way to reset it is to pull over, turn ignition off. After I restart engine, engine light says on for a good part of the day. I had onstar run a probe, they came back with code P2138. Anyone else having this problem? Any techs familiar with this. Local dealer will not check problem until 2 weeks. Thank you, Mark.  Huh?

All Vehicles - Intermittent MIL illuminated, DTC P2138 with reduced engine power
   

Do this---Check wiring and connector
   

DONT do this---Do not replace the throttle body or accelerator position sensor
   

07-06-04-019C


from what Ive seen online-- this code and reduced engine power is related to the accelerator pedal and or wiring related to this.
This applies to different vehicles (Impala, Colorados, H3's, etc etc) they are to check wiring for bd connections or chaffing.
Recrimp connectors etc.

Throttle sensor issue; which makes sense that the reduced engine power message shows.  IIRC; this was on issue on the 08's, haven't seen this come up in quite awhile.  I would press your dealer to get your 10 in earlier than 2 weeks

Thank you, got truck to local Chevy dealer I used to deal with in the past Wednesday evening. They still have vehicle, finally heard from them today, they said they will probably be changing throttle body, doing some replacement linked to the steering column, replacing a accelerator bracket, and repairing my rear power sunroof cover and trying to diagnose why my tranny is acting up shifting. i have rented a 2010 Tahoe LT in the meantime. They also asked me about if I want to perform a emissions service consisting of a air filter change at $70,00, and some king of cleaning for about $160.00. I have just reached 25,000 miles, they said it should have been performed at 15,000 miles. Thank you, Mark.

air filters are good for 50K. unless you want to change it early.
Im about to change it at 25K. But thats because im going to take a trip.
But I paid $20 for the filter on ebay. AC DELCO. I also know how to take the cover off...
As for the other cleaning... whats that entail?

I'm not sure, he said it was for emissions, my mileage has been very poor since day 1. I can't even break 15-16 mpg.  Can it be a injector cleaning? I believe he is going to replace the throttle body, which is under warranty, but has to locate the part. Enjoy the trip, vacation or business? thank you, Mark.

but maybe its an injector cleaner? I dont know....

Keep all of your paperwork and warranty for a while; some injector cleaners mess up the catalytic converters.

and my response would be "how about we see if you can fix the traction control; then we'll talk about this other stuff"

To the OP:

my wife is having the exact same issue with her 10 w/ 18k on it. Its in the shop for the second time in 3 days. They already replaced the pedal and some sensor the first time and the issue came back the next time she hit the highway. Did you get your issue solved?

I have 2007 Acadia, 52000 mi.  Same thing with traction control, oil change warning and reduced engine power all alarmed.  Took it to local shop and they diagnosed a leak in my water pump.  Still under powertrain warranty, so took it to GM dealer, who then said I need rack and pinion and inner tie rods replaced ($1200) plus realignment, along with front brakes and oil, coolant flushing.  I can't believe this car would already need rack and pinion to be replaced....I'm not having any symptoms (that I can tell)....anyone else have this problem?

Did your Acadia overheat?  I am assuming it did because of the reduced engine power condition.  I can see the oil change as a definite if the vehicle overheated and possibly the coolant flush as a precautionary measure.  I have read about some members needing the rack replaced because of leaks etc.  As far as the inner tie rods; not sure about that one and of course a realignment would be needed for the inner tie rod change

This is interesting!  I didn't think "inner" tie-rod ends existed on rack-and-pinion steering - only "outer" tie-rod ends!! :Smiley
