Got this letter in the mail today from GM. There maybe a problem with corrosion on the connector terminals for the body main wiring harness causing SERVICE AIR BAG system warning on the DIC.

I have had this happen twice now, guess I have to schedule an appointment

I received the same notice and darn it - had the car in for new brake linings two weeks ago and forgot to ask them to perform that.

Is that just 2008's?

BTW, could you make the document photo smaller?  When I click on it it's HUGE and I can't read it, due to the scroll bar doesn't appear till the bottom.  Just wondering if you can make it smaller, if you can't...no biggie.

You have got the SERVICE AIR BAG system warning twice or got a letter twice? Can you see any kind of corrosion where they are talking about?

You have got the SERVICE AIR BAG system warning twice or got a letter twice? Can you see any kind of corrosion where they are talking about?

Thanks, much better.  Wow, they will honor the repair up to 10 years, or 120,000 miles?  Wonder if they want to do that for the timing chains, coils, water leaks, dead batteries, etc. as well?

I received the letter also.  I haven't experienced any problems so I just put the letter in my glove box and will wait until the warning appears.  Hopefully I won't have any problems.

Now that would be nice yet nope they won't.  Air Bag is a major safety issue which is why they will extend the warranty.  The others...LOL....haven't read where anybody drowned from water leaks while driving their lambda when it was raining.

Mine had come on a couple times last summer, but hasn't since.  I was waiting till it's on all the time so they can see it on.  But, this letter is for 2008's only?  Since mine is 09, who really knows...I think if it's for 08's, it should be true for 07's thru 2011...I mean...what did they change?  nothing, I assume.

Now that would be nice yet nope they won't.  Air Bag is a major safety issue which is why they will extend the warranty.  The others...LOL....haven't read where anybody drowned from water leaks while driving their lambda when it was raining.

True I have asthma and I am highly allergic to mold.  So far I have had no problems when I have driven the Outlook and Reichard didn't change the carpet but he said they cleaned/dried it out thoroughly the last time I had it in. 

BUT I bet GM won't take that into consideration because it can be cleaned and won't affect the safety issue of the vehicle's occupants when in an accident.

Interesting!
I had my 2009 Acadia in just a couple months ago for the same thing and now the light is on AGAIN.  It comes on after a couple minutes of driving.  It also seemed to happen when it was pretty cold outside... which is almost always at this point.  At first it would come on some days and not others, but now it comes on each time I drive.

Bummer. Back to dealership I go...

Got my letter last week too, 08 Acadia. Have never seen that warning on the DIC though, too busy reading my service all wheel drive warning on my DIC.

Yep, got the "service air bag" warning today on mine  shrug and it's an '09. It'll get looked at on Tues.


Was'nt there a new letter that came out for '09's and the service air bag?, or am I thinking of something else but NOT the ECM/OLM ordeal.

if your vehicle falls into the category--- simply bringing up your VIN # at the dealer- should tell them that your vehicle is covered under this extended warranty
