Reminded me of the article I read about a company that is planning to make Firebirds out of 17 Camaros by adding a new front clip and other mods.

Reminded me of the article I read about a company that is planning to make Firebirds out of 17 Camaros by adding a new front clip and other mods.


A couple of companies have been making them since 2011.   Have seen them on display at various events in the mid-Atlantic.  Most seem to live their lives as garage queens.

Like many great muscle car models....the GTO died in 1972, not big fan of it's revival.

2004-2006 cars were Australian Holdens.  Somebody at GM thought it a good idea to stick GTO badges all over those cars.   No wonder GM should have been allowed to go bankrupt and fade away into the sunset.

Don't get me wrong.  The 2004-2006 Holdens are very nice cars.   I'm just not a fan of manufacturers that resurrect badges and stick them on some random car, something GM seems to enjoy.    I keep waiting for GM to import the Holden Ute and slap El Camino badges on it. 

I had a '68 400, 4 speed convertible.   After '72 the GTO, like most muscle cars, faded away.  '73 was just plain ugly and by '74 little more than a Ventura/Nova with different badges.

As I said, the GTO died in '72.

As I said, the GTO died in '72.

Oh, I understood your point. It was a slow death for the American muscle car starting with models in '68, IMO.
