I have a 2007 with 22k miles and my driver's side headlight has gone out.  Imagine my surprise when I looked in the manual and discovered that not only do they not tell you how to replace the headlight bulb but that they don't even give you the bulb part number.  Instead, they just tell you to call the dealership.  After looking on the forum, I now have an idea as to how to get to the bulb by going through the wheel well.  Maybe I just havenít performed the right search, but I haven't seen any posting as to the actual OEM replacement part number.  Does anyone know the OEM or any equivalent bulb part number for the halogen headlight bulb for a 2007?

Thanks,

Shelton

You are still under warranty, have the dealer do it for you.

H11 for the halogen Low beam
H7 for the Halogen high beam (not 9005)
D1S for the HID version low and high beam are the same bulb

OK; so I get a call and the Acadia has a passenger DRL/low beam out.  Just checked the Sylvania website and it lists low beams and DRL's with two different numbers..........I am guessing the H-11 is the bulb to go with

and the saga continues.....

so my father in law is going to change out the DRL; new H11 bulb in hand.  He calls me and asks how to get to the bulb; I sorta chuckle and tell him he has to remove the wheel and lining.........long pause........he says OK.

Fast forward to 5 mins ago; get another call back saying bulb is changed  thumbs up, but wiring is melted  Bang Head

So my Acadia is destined for a dealer visit  flaming mad

Has anyone used Hoen bulbs in their Acadia?  http://www.hoen-usa.com/index.htm

I have these in my Chevy Colorado, in the fog lights.  They have lasted for a REALLY long time.  They give off a great pattern, and are very bright white in color.  I see they are available in the H11 size.  These bulbs have outlasted 2 sets of Silverstars (low beams).  In my truck, whenever the low beams are on, so are the fogs.  The Hoens seem to be really well engineered.

My concern with using Silverstar is that they don't seem to last long.  In the Acadia, the area around the bulb seems very small, and is likely a hotter area than most other applications, which would burn bulbs out even faster.

Thoughts about other brands of bulbs?

I need to rant about these lights.

Just got my new tires mounted.  So I asked the tire shop "hey, since you will have the wheels off anyway, could you install my 2 new Hoen H11 light bulbs?".  They say "sure".  I get a call back a while later, and they tell me that according to the "book", it will cost me $200 in labor to have them change the bulbs!  WHAT!!!???   Bang Head Bang Head

Well, I guess it's time to suck it up, and use the how-to here on the forum to figure this out myself.  I am ready to start a petition to GM...how freaking stupid is this headlight thing!  Took me about 2 minutes on my truck!

Sorry...I am done now (maybe).   facepalm

Okay now this is sort of a headlight question..not the bulb.

I noticed the other day the drivers side headlight...the clear cover...is starting to look foggy.  I mean the passengers side is clear as a bell.

So would this be covered under the 36,000mile/3year warranty?

Ummm, you need to be ranting about your DISHONEST tire shop.  Once the tires are off, it takes about 5 mins per side (probably less if up on a rack) to remove 6-8 screws, 4-6 clips, the fenderliner and change the bulbs.  If they are telling you it's $200 labor to do this, they are criminals!

My independent told me the same thing about "by the book" but he said it only took 15 minutes or so to change it and charged me accordingly.

Probably not criminals...just idiots.  I have had very good luck with this shop.  I think it may have been that it was close to closing time, and they did not want to spend one more minute there.
Thanks, guys.  Sorry for the rant.

Had mine done at the dealer after my warranty expired (2nd time, did 1st myself) to make sure the wiring is OK and they only charged my $5.  Service manager said that the book rate is outrageous so they generously discounted the cost.

I noticed the other day the drivers side headlight...the clear cover...is starting to look foggy.  I mean the passengers side is clear as a bell.
I wonder if your wiring is melting and the "smoke" is causing the lens to fog up?  There is a TSB about this....and I think it says not to replace the lens housing unless it is "fogged" up.....

I have to go up to Reichard this week to make an appointment for a warranty item as well as oil change/tire rotation.  I will mention this to them.

1st time I did it on my traverse- I did it carefully. I didnt have any instructions- so most of the time was trying to figure out how to access.
But once I figured it out--- the 2nd time- took me 20 minutes total ( I timed myself)... WITH the wheels on.
Just have to turn the wheel IN on the side your working on--- removed some screws- and access the bulbs.
Of course you have to reach up etc... but not bad- once you know where to look.

Hello,

I just wanted to thank all the people contributing to this thread that I read all of your posts and performed this procedure while recording it with my IPhone 4.  I was mainly thinking of inspiring those budding do-it-yourselfers that just need that extra inspiration to do this headlight bulb installation, but wanted to see it done first.

Please share your experiences as well if the videos have helped in any way.
