I've been waiting a long time for this......I love our Acadia (now used as second family around town vehicle as we bought a 15 Yukon) I'm a bit disappointed it's smaller, but I'll wait to see how functional the interior is in person. I think it looks fantastic in and out.

Looks nice. Interesting set of options. The "All Terrain" option opens the market to many who might consider moving from the Jeep world.

The exterior, interior, and tech are very good. VERY DISAPPOINTED with the smaller size, and lack of 8 speed transmission. Its 2016 and the only other manufacturer to only offer a 6speed in their redesigned mid-size crossover is Toyota in its Highlander (the Highlander usually finishes last in most comparisons because...........IT'S SMALLER DIMENSIONS!). The reason the Lambda sells so well is because of IT'S SIZE. They are a very good alternative to the body on frame full-size suv's like the Yukon/Tahoe in size. GM is clearly trying to widen the gap between their mid-size crossover and their full-size SUV, so they don't compete in sales! The smaller size alone will cause me not to buy it, and look for a good deal on a 2015 or a Honda Passport!

I really like it. The All Terrain package looks sharp. I guess I can finally trade my 07 in.

There are a few other GMC models for 2017 taking this body line on the rear window.  The Canyon being one.

The "All Terrain" option

Just think, "Professional Grade" with an "Active Twin Clutch"!   thumbs up

It just doesn't get any better than that!!!!! Even a competitor with Symmetrical All Wheel Drive won't be able to compete!

I think they really screwed up and it looks like they benchmarked the Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder dimensions.  This should have just become the new Terrain.

  • Third Row is an "option" and available on "most" models?
The Third Row only fits two people
Like many have said, it looks like the Envoy XL
Why is the Third Row Window so small with the high belt line?

I think it is attractive, especially the interior on upper trim levels.  However, I think by downsizing they are giving up the best attribute of the outgoing models.  The large, usable interior space is what set the lambdas apart from the huge range of competitors.  I bought one for Its ability to seat seven adults in relative comfort.

I suspect that is also a big part of the sales success of the lambda vehicles.

Sorry, when I saw the pic with the people in it I thought it was the older model. Maybe I can't see correctly but it sure looks like there is only the front seatswit the steering wheel and the second row seats but if that's i what good will be the 3rd row seats and any cargo that you would need to carry.

Echoing the majority here, I don't like it. It's almost as if GM decided to move from the sweet spot (bigger than mid size SUV, but smaller than large SUV) in the market to join the crowded mid size SUV crowd. GM must obviously have some market research that points to this being the right thing to do, but I just don't see it or understand it. While they are calling this car an Acadia, with the downsizing and moving it away from the lambda platform, it is really an Acadia-In-Name-Only.

One question: does anyone have a thought on what this will do to the resale value of the current Acadias? Acadias have until now retained their values quite nicely, especially for an American vehicle. With the change in platform, does anyone think this will adversely affect resale values?

Read an article that was posted on the Equinox/Terrain forum that the the new Acadia will come in 5 or 7 seat configs. If we decide to downsize at the end of our lease in Nov. 2017 it might be something to look at if the 5 seat config comes with the V6. It would be a little bigger than our Nox but smaller than our Enclave.

The thing that sold me on the Acadia was the ability of lay a full sheet on plywood flat on the floor.  The last few inches did stick the back but that was workable.

The other Lambdas did not/do not have this capability.  They have the rounded hatch opening bottom.

Arthritis now has me in such shape that my woodworking days are probably over, but I would still make that a criteria for a new vehicle.

I would still want the 7 person seating capability because of the space when daughter with two children is visiting.

That's why we traded in the Nox for the Enclave. We thought that when our son got out of the Army he would he stay in KY. and visit us more often but now he's planning on retiring in TX., plus son that lives by us is getting divorced and teenage granddaughter doesn't go with us much anymore.

Sometimes it is hard to look at change in or lives and  have to look at alternatives, if any.  It is disheartening for us, if they have downsized.  My wife is the one that wants the full size and we do occasionally use all 7 seats, so we don't have to take 2 cars.  If the wheelbase in the 17' is shorter, perhaps the ride will not be as comfortable.

We would probably be flexible in our situation with owning a 17'.

The new dimensions put the 2017 Acadia in the same category as the Acura MDX I had before buying the Acadia.

I bought the Acadia because of its size.  The cargo footprint behind the 2nd seat is exactly the same as a Tahoe.  Take a little over 3 inches off the width and over 7 inches off the length and that has to change.

2" in less legroom with be very significant for the 3rd seat passengers.  I did not even try to use the 3rd seat in the Acura.

I think that GMC has been their own worst enemy of this model change.

It looks more like an "all weather mat" package, the standard is probably that greyish color carpet you can see underneath the mats and on the back of the second row seat.  The pull straps are on my wife's '14 Acadia, but they're only to pull the seat back up.  The one pictured may have a power fold option or the release is on the side.

Just wait/save for the Cadillac XT5 to come out.  Website says it'll have an 8 speed.

The new generation Traverse and Enclave might not be as different from the Acadia as folks think. http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/buick/enclave/2017-enclave/ http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/chevrolet/traverse/2017-traverse/

I have a 2013 Acadia Denali.  Love everything about it.  But for just 2 people on a regular basis, I could go for the smaller new-coming model.  Styling is clean, though I'll miss that bold styling.
Love the technology it will offer as well.  My only disappointment is that with more and more vehicles (including GMC) offering the superior lighting of led technology, why isn't GMC offering it on the new Acadia?  At least on the Denali?
