Which do you prefer?  I wish they would have left the dual-quad tips on the 2013 instead of removing them.  Gives it a more aggressive look - which is what they were going for with the front redesign.  The Saturn (which the rear is modeled after) has the dual exhaust, as does the new Enclave and Acadia Denali/Traverse LTZ.  Thinking maybe this was cost-cutting measure?  Curious if the rear bumpers are interchangeable.....

I was disappointed too when I saw that non-Denali Acadias would lose any sort of chrome/polished exhaust tips.  And yeah, they probably did it to save money.

Or they did it to further differentiate the plebeian Acadia vs. the Denali.

On my 2013 I was so pissed to see they went away from the chrome tips, now the more l look at it, its growing on me, they did a good job refining the look of the new bumper its got more of a smooth look to it especially with that brushed aluminum feel vs the chrome strip, even though its all plastic crap it looks very sharp.  The most annoying cost cutting move is no power sunshade and no auto up on passenger window.

I totally agree about the auto up on the windows.  Our '13 only has Auto down on the driver's side, no auto up.  My 1998 base model BMW has auto down on all 4 windows and auto up on both fronts.  This is one of the most annoying things I have found on this vehicle......its 2013, the cheapest Kia out there should come w/ auto windows...

There have always been safety concerns about auto-up windows.  Yes, there is technology that can be built in so you don't get your head/arm/fingers cut off, but it does add risk.  I don't think that's going to be a huge selling point for a new vehicle, so they probably just avoided the risk.

I wont say it would have directed me away from this purchase, but it would have been weighed in if I had thought about it when looking.  Its one of those things you dont miss till its gone....  The auto lift gate could be a risk as well, but it was a big selling point.  Same basic concept.  I just think a $40K SUV should have something like auto windows..

No, they avoided it to extract more money out of the consumer.  The 2013 SLT-2 and the Denali have driver's side auto-up.  The lower trim levels do not.

I think the 2010 thru 2013 are like that, just a way to make you want to go for the high end models and GM makes more money.  Bang Head

I believe they can be reprogrammed.  I do know that the power windows have software, I had to have my windows reprogrammed when the driver's side auto up quit working.  Just something to check out, it could be a default from the factory setting that can be changed. (mine also has auto up on the front passenger window.)

Haven't seen an Acadia service manual.  If it is like other GM cars, you've got the switch, the window regulator, and the BCM with some functions in the circuit.  With luck, the BCM does not need to be reprogrammed, because finding someone who will do that for you isn't likely.  A quick glance at part numbers show different switches as well as different regulators, so hopefully that would be enough.  Looks like $250-$300 in parts.  Should have gotten an SLT-2  wink

yeah, didnt think the extra $2k was worth it at the time, and it was difficult finding an SLT2 without additional options in my area.  Only thing I wish I had was the memory seats/mirror, auto up/down windows, and optional HIDs...  they can keep the rest.

yeah i wish i had memory seats.  kinda annoying adjusting the seat back.  didn't think it was a big deal until i didn't have it.

i also like the hidden exhaust on the 2013.

(mine also has auto up on the front passenger window.)

There is a procedure for the owner (not a technician) to re-program the auto up feature, at least on certain models/years. This may be what 09Enlcave was referring to (?). I had to do this when I noticed them not working after my wave-plate tranny rebuild. May not work on newer models if the feature is not built in. Pasted from the 2007 owner manual page 117:

Programming the Power Windows
If the battery one your vehicle has been recharged,
disconnected, or replaced, windows with the
express-up feature need to be reprogrammed for
this feature to work. To program the window:
1. With the ignition in the ACCESSORY or RUN
positions, or when Retained Accessory
Power (RAP) is active, close all doors. See
Retained Accessory Power (RAP) on
page 125.
2. Press and continue to hold the window switch
until the window is fully open.
3. Pull up and hold the window switch to close the
window. Continue to hold it briefly after the
window is fully closed.
4. Repeat for each window that has the express
up feature.

I definitely like the "flow through" exhaust of the Denali.  I guess having less chrome to polish is something that is a good side effect though, as having motorcycles, any amount of chrome is a PITA if you'd rather be riding instead of washing and polishing.

I think this is somewhat of a cost savings as well as upmodel distinction.  Looking at the rear fascia, it completely obscures the rear resonators/mufflers, and the tips are actually turned down 90 degrees on the '13 SLE-SLTs.  This way the changeup for them to go to a Denali flow-through style is more cosmetic than anything of a change; the bumper fascia doesn't need to be all that different in height, etc.  As far as the dual tip, I don't know if it would look as good on the '13s, but I definitely like it on the prior MYs

So does ours.  I miss that feature when in my Silverado, too - express down only in it.

Refresh my memory; auto up was an SLT-2 only feature for 07 and 08?  I don't have auto up but then again I have an SLT-1.

Must have been.  I'd have no idea on the later models as there has been so much decontenting.

I think auto up is a standard option now; it's BCM/power window module programming
