Anyone know what the orange light is between the map lights on the 2011 Acadia Denali's?

It shines down on the cup holder/shifter area to provide a little light at night so you can see what you're grabbing. All model years have them as do most other vehicles. I like it as it keeps me from having to turn on one of the map lights at night making it harder to see the road.

Thanks, it actually just came on for the first time last night and made me wonder what it was indicating.

I believe all of the Acadias have that. I find it useful - not too bright to be distracting but enough light if you need to see something in that area.

I think it actually stays on even during the day if I am not mistaken but I could be wrong.

I believe you're correct. Just obviously would go unnoticed during the day unless you put your hand right up under it to verify. My Dodge truck has a nice greenish light that's actually brighter but not distracting at all.

One of my big interior complaints on our 2010 Acadia is that the interior lights (map lights, etc) are way to dim. They just seem light "dirty light" and not clear & bright enough compared to other vehicles I've owned.

this orange light is available on all lambdas as far as I know. You probably had not noticed it because your nightime drives were in the city? lots of light possibly? But in dark areas- mtns, desert etc-- the light is a very nice way to light up your center console. My Travese is black on the inside. so at night- its pretty dark in the vehicle. when any light comes in- light colors- light up... so this little orange light lights up anything that appears in its range. key cards, white drink containers, maps etc. It is also tied in with the cluster lighting levels.

Pretty sure it only comes on when the headlights (not DRLs) come on.

Replace the bulbs with LEDs. XenonDepot sells them, but they are a little pricey.

Anyone know how much it would cost for a complete set of LED's for the Acadia?

I'm assuming to expensive and the wife wouldn't go for it. She wouldn't see the benefit in it like I would.

Mine is always ON, does not matter if the headlights are on or off.

I believe it's always on as well. Comes on when the vehicle is started. Provides better lighting than the current interior lights.

Mine only comes on when the headlamps automatically change from DRL to the regular headlamps depending on the darkness of the surroundings. When it is bright enough outside, the headlamps will go off, the DRL will come on and the orange light goes out. Of course this happens only when the Exterior Lamp switch is set to Auto and not Parking Lamp or Headlamp. If either of the last two settings are selected then the orange light will be lite.
