I have an 09 Acadia and I am trying to install the factory cross bars on my roof rails.  I can't get past the 1st instruction.  It said to insert a screwdriver in the hole at the back of the rail and depress it after it is inserted. Nothing happens the cover does not pop off like they say it will.  Nothing catches the screw driver to be depressed.  what or how it is to be depressed.  Has anyone installed these before?

plenty of discussions on this topic.  Search 'cross rails' & you'll find a whole list of threads.  Here's a couple I found to be most useful:

http://www.acadiaforum.net/forum/index.php?topic=7355.0
http://www.acadiaforum.net/forum/index.php?topic=6259.0

The second one has an attachment to one of the comments where a kind forum member took pictures of his install & provided added info to the process.  In the first link it speaks directly about "depressing" to get off the end caps...lesson learned as they broke one and had to replace to the tune of $50...

Have fun

Installed the cross bars today.  Totally different than the documentation from GM or on the link.  Putting as screwdriver in the hole does nothing.  You have to pry it straight up.  There are 2 clips that hold it in place.  It does not slide backwards.  There is a plastic pin that fits  into a hole on the car mount that will snap if you try to slide it. ( I should know I snapped it).  I took pictures and I will post them a soon as I download them from my phone.  One they are off it is a piece of cake.
