Hi,

It seems to me my remote start only works when immediately used after I hear the lock door beep sounds.

If I leave a car for a while, I can not use it any more. any tricks?

I will try to use my another key at home to see if it works.

Thanks,
Roy

I found sth myself:

Remote Start
1. I can't get my car to remote start. What do I need to do?
Make sure that you press and release the lock button on the key fob first, then immediately press and hold the Remote start button on the key fob for approximately three seconds. The vehicle should start. If not, make sure you are within 180 ft. of your vehicle and try again. If your vehicle still does not remote start, then check for conditions in owners manual that would prevent a remote start from occurring.

I never knew this before confused

in order to use the remote start. the vehicle has to be locked, and hood down.

The process in which to activate remote start, is to press the LOCK button on the key fob 2 TIMES once(edited because I learned something), Then press and hold the top middle button on the key fob for 2-3 seconds.

Thanks, it is correct, maybe one time is OK to press and release the lock button on the key fob, I will try then.

I don't have to press the lock button twice, only once.

One push is all it takes, good to know. You get the horn to sound on the second press of the lock button also letting you know the vehicle has received the signal. This also helps to wake the neighbors at 600am. Grin

These steps are listed in the owner's manual as well

/(Remote Start): This button will be on the
RKE transmitter if you have remote start.
To start the vehicle using the remote start feature,
do the following:
1. Aim the transmitter at the vehicle.
2. Press and release the transmitter’s lock
button, then immediately press and hold
the transmitter’s remote start button until the
turn signal lights flash. If you cannot see
the vehicle’s lights, press and hold the remote
start button for at least four seconds. The
vehicle’s doors will lock. Pressing the remote
start button again, after the vehicle has
started, will turn off the ignition.
When the vehicle starts, the parking lamps will
turn on and remain on while the vehicle is
running.
3. If it is the first remote start since the vehicle
has been driven, repeat these steps while the
engine is still running, to extend the time
by 10 minutes for the engine to continue to
run. Remote start can be extended one time.

I always press the lock 2 times and listen for the horn beep.  I then press the remote start button until I see the lights flash and then release.  Found this procedure to work best with my vehicle.

Didn't know you can press twice for honk.  Didn't read about that in manual either.  Can you give more details?  I press lock, and then hold start.  Do you then release and press immediately?  Do you hold on second press or just release to get honk?

The second press is not required for remote start; the second press confirms the vehicle is locked with a horn sound since the vehicle won't start unless the vehicle is locked

I always press lock 2x.
As I walk away from the vehicle its just assurance that its locked, I dont have to check and see.... as long as I hear the honk, I know its all set!

On a side note; you can press the lock button on the door; and once all the doors are shut; the vehicle locks and honks.  This also keeps "freq stealers" from capturing your remote frequency and attempting to unlock your vehicle
