Satellite Connection Problems

My 2012 Acadia began with losing connection with Sirius for the satellite radio. During that time it would go in and out and the traffic connection would remain. Currently it is not connecting with the radio nor with the traffic and I suspect it may be a receiver or connection issue. Any feedback and experience with this issue and recommendations on troubleshooting?

Did Sirius give any indication of trouble with reading information from the module on their end?

I'm going to guess it's either an antenna problem, or a problem with the XM/Sirius module. Can't do anything better than speculate! Both can be tested, but you need special equipment to do so. Find someone with that kind of equipment the expertise to use it.

Greetings, All!

I am experiencing the same issue with the SXM radio in my 2017 Acadia. Here's an article which may shed light on the issue:

And, a more recent article offering this update:

Basically, T-Mobile cell towers are interfering with SXM satellite signals. Both sides are still in the finger-pointing stage, so a resolution seems a bit distant. I can tell you I drove a 2013 Ford Edge for four years prior to my new Acadia (my first and only Ford experience), and I experienced no signal loss at all. Anywhere. The problem only began with my Acadia. Hmmmm... I can only speculate here, but my guess is the SXM radio itself is partly to blame. ;-) #NoFanOfTMobile

I have noticed the same issue with this since purchasing my Traverse last month. I have had Sirius in many other vehicles and have never had the types of signal issues I am having with the XM in this vehicle. I am going with an aftermarket head stereo system shortly and might just upgrade to the Sirius aftermarket tuner addition if the XM does not improve.

I have a consistent problem at some intersections. Suspect the municipal equipment (cameras, light switching, traffic monitoring, etc.) is generating so much EMI that it's blocking/scrambling the signal. I just mute before those intersections rather than endure the skips. Now it's started on some sections of interstate too. Arggh! Maybe these are near T-Mobile towers too.
