I got this 2012 Acadia SLT last summer and as soon as the cold weather arrived my right rear tire showed no reading... just -- -- . I figured I would deal with it in the spring. Just had her in for an oil change yesterday and mentioned it to the service guy. He checked it with his scanner and told me I need a new sensor. Price out the door after taxes and installation would be just under $100.00. Is this excessive or are there aftermarket ones that will work with the original system?

That sounds about right. List price on the part is about $80.00 U.S. They can be found for just under $40. Labor to install and program is about 0.4 hrs. Looks like you probably got a break on the part.

Thanks Man. I just figured they would be a little lower priced than that.

Here is my change....
my sensors were not giving me an issue.

TPMS sensors.....I bought 4 'new car' take offs on ebay for $53. (original style)

I had them months on advance- for when I replaced my tires.
When it came time to replace tires- Shop changed out my sensors for $5 per tire.

So-- You may want to search online/ in store for sensors.
And then have the changed out when you have your tires replaced.
Or drive in to a mom and pop shop and see what they charge.

I have seen new a new replacement part # out for the OEM units.
The new ones are very cheap. I believe about $18 each.

Time for me to start hunting.

I've been checking availability online and it seems everyone has a different part number. Even accessed a GMPARTSONLINE website. It listed several that said it will fit my vehicle... all different part numbers... Getting confusing.

But the ones in the EBay link look different than the one on your rim. But anyway, would I need a complete set of these or would just one work along with my system?

It's all up to you! You're OK replacing one right now. The decision to replace them all will probably come in a few more years. I replaced one when the valve stem got cracked about half way through a set of tires. When I had the tires replaced, all the TPMS were changed at that time. The original TPMS were 9 3/4 years old. Since the expected life is ~10 years, it was time to change them! I didn't worry about which one was newer than the others - all of them went bye bye.

the newer updated part #- is smaller in size.

if you get only 1.. you can have it changed...
when they go into relearn mode- all 4 sensors are relearned.
Thanks for the info. I gotta see how much extra cash I can come up with. The price of four from EBay is about the same as one at my local dealership.
