Has anyone found where you plug in the Brake Controller under the Dash in a 17'? NO ONE knows....Plus, I didn't get the plug with the car like all of my other Veh. with the Towing Package. I bought a 3026-P Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - GM and cant find the other plug in.... :banghead:

I'm not towing anything so I don't know if this is what info you're looking for but on page 279 of the owners manual is the section on Electric Trailer Brake Control Wiring Provisions. Hope this helps.

spx1000, let us know when (if) you find them. You're the first here to try setting up the new model for towing a trailer.

spx1000, something to check would be if your car even has the tow package installed. Look on the Service Parts Identification (SPID) decal in the car and see if the RPO code is there. It's probably still a V92 code. You might have to look around for the decal. Someone posted they found the SPID decal in the rear of the car inside the cargo compartment - not in the glovebox.

I just assumed he had the trailering package but it's not available on the SL or SLE trims, an option on SLT-1 and standard or SLT-2 or Denali. He never stated what trim he has.

The topic line says Denali, but you never know what GMC has done after the debacle with rear heating in paul n's car.

Okay, here is my 1st attempt at a Write Up:

- 2017 GMC Acadia Denali w/V92 (Trailer Pkg. Factory Installed)
- Put the Drivers seat all the way back
- Remove the little square access tab right next to the Gas Pedal
- Use a 7mm Nut Driver to remove the Screw
- Now starting under the Dash start to remove the Center Console side panel. This is held on with clips so it comes off pretty easily.
- Once off of the Console it takes some jockeying to get it out.
- Once out look at the Fire Wall and you will see the Blunt Cut Wires.
- (2) Blue, (1) 12v IT HAS POWER!!!! and (1) Trailer Brake Signal
- (1) Black Grnd.
- (White/Blue) Signal Wire
- Connect your Controller Wires
- Put Console Panel into position. Look at the lower back corner near the seat. Use a long screw driver to push the
lower tab into position 1st!
- Lightly push all of the taps in
- Now mount your controller.

Please Clarify your wiring discovery

Does the (2)Blue, mean there are two blue wires? Thanks for the help on the location of the wiring harness. We just took deliver of a 2018 Acadia Denali with Trailer Package, so just verified that the 7 pin does have all the necessary wires. Will check it out tomorrow, hopefully based on you steps find the same Harness I found on 2010 GMC Sierra.

Previous Install was on a 2010 GMC Sierra:
I did bypass the Factory Brake Controller on my 2010 GMC Sierra 2500. (reason being: when you have ABS warning lights, the Factory Brake controller shutdown, no trailer brakes). Added a Tekonsha 3 and had to wire the controller to blunt cut wires, plus added a new blue wire from controller to 7 pin (removing one from factory controller).

Sierra wiring harness was as follows: Using Tekonsha 3 Brake Controller
a. Blue (12g) to seven pin rear plug to activate Trailer Brakes (Connect to Brake Controller: Blue Wire)
b. White: Ground: (Connect to Brake Controller White wire)
c. Red: Battery Plus: (Connect to Brake Controller Black Wire)
d. Lt Blue (16g) from truck brake pedal switch (Connect to Brake Controller Red Wire)

There was an Orange wire also, but not used.

Cool write up. :thumb: Pictures don't work as attachments, though. They must be inserted as images from the 'net. You can store them on imgur, Photobucket, even the forum gallery, and share them from those sites.

2017 Acadia All Terrain Brake Controller Wiring

Does anybody know if the Acadia All Terrain has bare wires or a connector for the brake controller? I understand that there is a connector, but I am having trouble accessing the area under the dash. There is a black panel which looks like it should fold down, but I have not been able to open it. (I don't want to yank on it too hard!) Any help would be appreciated.

2018 GMC Acadia SLT w/ trailer package: There is no brake controller plug contrary to e-trailer.com claim. See page 270 of owner's manual for Electric Brake Control Wiring provisions. You must connect via crimp connectors to "blunt cut" wires tucked behind the wire harness located behind the gas pedal. On my install, there was no need to remove console side panel, just push it toward passenger side to reveal wire harness.

SPX1000...Thanks ...used your write up today to do my 2019 SLE with the V92...very help full .
Also agree with above ,didnt really need to remove the side panel ,but gives you more room to solder and you get to see a bunch of stuff ,eg the shifter mechanism which I may have to play with down the road(after warranty)
