Third oil change on my 2014

With 15450 miles on my 14 Acadia it was time for an oil change. With 5300 miles since the last, the oil was changed by a local shop. I supplied the Valvoline Synthetic and a PF63E filter. Cost me $20.00 labor so not worth getting my hands dirty.

The OLM read 28%. Last change was after 5200 mi and the OLM was 14%. A difference that could of been caused by the winter months although we really don't have much winter in the Houston area.

I added one quart of oil after 3000 miles this time so will be watching to see if consumption is going to be an issue with this vehicle. Haven't had a car use oil between changes since my 86 Custom Cruiser.

May stretch the next change to 6000 mi since I'm using synthetic.

Mine will have the 4th free change next week, but pay the difference for Mobil 1 with the dealer. I'm at 11%. I have 16,800 and made the first oil change at 1000 miles. Next oil change the tires get rotated too or every 10K. I bought our 14' Acadia in neighboring town at a small dealership, but have my oil changes done at our local dealer.

I decided to forgo the free oil changes from the dealer. My local shop can get me in and out in 30 minutes. Dealer would be three times that plus the mileage to get there. At my age, time and convenience is worth more than a few extra bucks. I pay $20.00 for the change with my oil and filter and for $9.99 more get the tires rotated, a 20 something point safety inspection--who knows what they look at-- but the washer bottle is now full, tires aired up and the carpets vacuumed. I watched them do some of the work and they did use a torque wrench on the lug nuts.

Ready for that 1800 mile trip next week.

Put some paper down and drive over it and look to see if it is leaking oil, changes are they did not put the plug in correct under the engine. Sometimes the strip the threats and it leaks.
This seems somewhat "out of the blue." Who are you addressing with this reply?

Do you take Mobil 1 oil with you or do you pay the dealer extra? If extra, how much?

I paid the dealer $33.50 xtra incl the tax. When had it changed in MI on a trip, it was $35.65 at a Chevy dealer.

Come March or so, I'll have them do the Mobil 1 + filter and pay full price for what it is.

How much oil does the Acadia take with the filter?
It's in the owner's manual. Look up "capacities" in the index. If you don't have an owner's manual, you'll find they're available online for every model year.

From the 2014 manual (page 11-2):

Capacities and Specifications
The following approximate capacities are given in metric and English conversions. See Recommended Fluids and
Lubricants on page 11-12 for more information.
Application
Capacities
Metric English
Air Conditioning Refrigerant For the air conditioning system refrigerant type and charge amount, see the
refrigerant label under the hood. See your dealer for more information.
Cooling System 11.3 L 11.9 qt
Engine Oil with Filter 5.7 L 6.0 qt
Fuel Tank 83.3 L 22.0 gal
Transfer Case Fluid 1.0 L 1.0 qt
Wheel Nut Torque 190Y 140 lb ft
All capacities are approximate. When adding, be sure to fill to the approximate level, as recommended in this
manual. Recheck fluid level after filling

My free oil changes ran out and bit ago and went to the dealer this morning for Mobil 1 and tire rotation. With Tax $87.42. I always wonder about the dealers, "Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection." That is, I wonder if all 30 points are really inspected. With 30,000 miles on the GY RS-A, P255/60R19, the tread depth reading was: "8/32 or greater." That is great tire wear for the RS-A and would say that it's about right, from visual inspection.

I come to pay the cashier and Mobil has a rebate form to fill out and send in, to receive a $15.00 coupon that I can apply to the next Mobil 1 change. Not bad.

i already replaced my Goodyear RSA's at about 35,000 with Michelin Defender LTX's, i don't really care for Goodyear tires. I like the Michelin's. Not sure what the depth of mine were, i just chose to replace them this past winter after sliding around a bit in some rain on the highway, wasn't even going that fast.

I take Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 filter to the dealer and they change. Charge my $15 for the service.(they used to charge me $18 for the service but dropped the cost a couple of years ago.) Oil cost me about $22 to $25 per 5 qt jug at Walmart and filter about $11. I eat one of their free dougnuts and drink a cup of coffee while I wait.

Lets see:
5 quart= 25.00
1 quart = 7.00 Engine takes 5.5 quarts
1 Filter = 10.00
Dealer Labor 15.00 Sounds like an unusual deal
Gas to Store to buy and then to dealer = 5.00

Total the way I see it is...... $62.00

My dealer for Mobil 1 is $67.00 complete with tax. Just say'n

That one quart is also only $5.00. I take then two of the 5 qt jugs. Wife's Cadillac uses 7 1/2 qts so I always have a 5 qt jug that is partial.

Dealer is only 6 miles away so only one gal of gas used. Oil and filter picked up during other trips. I always keep what I need for both vehicles in my garage. No special trips. Usually trip to have oil changed is also multi task trip.

Plus you forgot to subtract for the free doughnut and coffee and fun time looking around at new vehicles.

Oil Change

I e-mailed my dealer consultant for an apt for Mobil 1 w tire rotation a couple days ago. He replied with a price of $69.00 plus tax. I went in this morning and another consultant log me in for my 9a appointment. He told me the price would be $89.00. I had to get out my 11" laptop and read to him, Adam's e-mail reply to me with $69.00 price. All was good. Adam misquoted the Mobil 1 change price, which was for conventional/blend. I was out of there in an hour. I have more than 3 oil changes on my 14' w 38K+ miles.
